Peer Helping Program Kicks Off!
Westfield's Peer Helping program is officially underway for the school year! Mrs. Norris recently met with this dedicated class of student leaders to set expectations as they prepare to visit our feeder elementary schools and mentor young buddies. Student Services Update
Schedule Change Reminders
Westfield school counselors have been working closely with students throughout the first two weeks to ensure schedules are complete and accurate.
As we move into Week 3, please keep the following schedule change guidelines in mind:

Level-Up Requests (AP/Honors): Requests to move up to an AP or Honors-level course may only be considered during Week 3 of school. These changes are based on space availability and must be made during this window to ensure students do not miss too much of the course curriculum.

Level-Down Requests: Beginning in Week 3, students may request to move down a course level. We strongly encourage students enrolled in AP, Honors, or Dual Enrollment (DE) courses to remain in the course for at least one month to give themselves a fair opportunity to adjust to the expectations and rigor of the class.

How to Request a Change: For level-up requests during Week 3, or level-down requests moving forward, students should see their school counselor directly to request a Schedule Change Request Form.

Space Availability: All schedule changes are dependent upon available space in the requested course and the impact a change may have on the student's overall schedule. Submitting a Schedule Change Request Form does not guarantee that a change can be made.

Processing Time: Please allow up to one week for a schedule change request to be reviewed and processed. Students should continue attending their current classes until they receive confirmation that a schedule change has been completed.

Classroom Spotlight: AP European History Mind Maps
 Student collaboration was front and center in Mr. Baranowski’s AP European History class this week. Students worked in groups to build Renaissance mind maps, connecting key historical events and themes.
During the end-of-class debrief, Bulldogs discussed how historical trends from the Renaissance continue to impact our world today. Great critical thinking, Bulldogs! Read all about the AP European History class learning experience.
Hallway Pass Expectations & Procedures
To support continuous instruction and minimize classroom distractions, students are reminded on the morning announcements to follow hallway expectations:
🔴 Passes Required: Students must carry an official colored hallway pass whenever leaving a classroom during class time.
⏰ The 10/10 Rule: To protect important instruction at the beginning and end of class, hallway passes are not issued during the first 10 minutes or last 10 minutes of any period.
School Picture Day is coming for grades 9, 10, and 11!
📅 Date: Wednesday September 16th, Thursday September 17th & Friday September 18th, 2026 through students’ English classes
📸 Pictures Available: Approximately two weeks after photo day

Students will recieve an additional student ID with their school picture. Students can place this ID behind their bus ID that was distributed.
PSAT/SAT Day Early Release Form
On Wednesday, October 7th, 10th and 11th grade students will be taking the PSAT during the school day. Those 12th graders who previously registered will take the SAT on this day as well. 9th grade students do not attend school on this day.
Registration for the SAT for 12th graders closed on 9/2 and confirmation emails were sent to those registered on 9/3.
If you would like to excuse your student from school after they finish the PSAT/SAT, please complete this form in its entirety and have your student return it to their Subschool by Wednesday, September 30th at 3pm.
We will not allow any email early releases on this day. Only students with this completed form will be allowed to leave early on Wednesday, October 7th. All other students will be released at 12:55pm. There will be a grab and go lunch option.

Strong Start for Westfield Cross Country
 Westfield Cross Country team delivered an impressive performance at last weekend’s Great Meadows Invitational!
A special shoutout goes to Briana Pritchard for capturing first place in the Girls Varsity Race, as well as our top place finishers Jack Mauck (18th overall) in Boys Upperclassman Race, Ryan Barber (15th overall) in Boys Underclassmen Race, and Dara Anyalebechi (11th overall) in Girls Underclassmen Race. The team has been putting in hard work through the hot summer temperatures, even joined by Ms. Norris for a 3-mile run!

Classroom Spotlight: AVID 9/10 Autopsy Activity
 AVID 9 and 10 students participated in an inspiring "Autopsy Activity" this week to outline their personal goals and values!
Through this hands-on project, students reflected on their direction, choices, and passions. They shared how their vision is focused on a bright future, their voices will express respect, and their hearts will guide them toward helping others.
