Varsity Football Gameday Procedures
As we prepare for another exciting fall sports season, FCPS is implementing additional safety and security measures at all varsity football games.
Beginning this season, all spectators will participate in security screening using the same weapons detection technology introduced in our high schools last school year.
The gate opens at 6:00 pm. Spectators must pass through the metal detectors located next to the main stadium entrance (the Greenbrier West gate is no longer open). The Greenbrier West gate WILL be open to exit the game starting at the 2 minute warning in the 4th quarter.
A standardized bag policy will also be in place to help ensure a safe, efficient entry process for everyone attending our games. The following items are prohibited:
- Backpacks
- Purses
- Fanny packs
- Tote bags
- Outside food and beverages
- Sporting equipment (balls, bats, sticks, etc.)
- Any item prohibited by FCPS policy, or determined by event staff to present safety concerns
Approved bags are limited to:
- Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags no larger than 12”x6”x12”
- Small clutch bag no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”
- Medical and diaper bags permitted but subject to inspection
All students must be able to produce a student ID card or SIS StudentView profile upon request of school administrators or security staff.
As a reminder, middle school students and younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult who remains with the student(s) at the event.
These enhancements are designed to support a safe and welcoming environment while allowing families, students, and community members to enjoy Friday night football. We encourage attendees to purchase a Booster Pass or purchase tickets Online Etix to avoid the lines at the ticket booth on game day. Please also arrive a little earlier than usual to allow time for screening.
Gates close to students at the end of halftime – No Students will be admitted after the start of the third quarter unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
World Languages Credit by Exam
This year's World Languages Credit by Exam will be administered at each FCPS middle, high, and secondary school.
The World Languages Credit by Exam is an optional test for students in grades 7-12 who can speak and write/type proficiently in a language other than English. Based on the results of the exam, they can earn 1, 2, and/or 3 passing world language credits. If that language is one of the languages listed on the link below, consider registering for the World Languages Credit by Exam!
The 2026 World Languages Credit by Exam will be administered at Chantilly High School on November 11, 2026 at 8:15am in Charger Hall (formally Lecture Hall).
Registration opens on Tuesday, September 8, at 8:00am, and closes on Friday, October 16, at 4:00pm. Late registrations will not be accepted.
Interested students must complete the Family Notification and Registration Form: https://www.fcps.edu/form/world-language-credit-exam-wlcbe-notification-and-registration-form (printed copies are also available from Ms. Taylor in Student Services). Completed forms should be submitted to Ms. Taylor in Student Services for processing.

Remember to Complete Permission Forms for School Resources
Families can now easily grant consent for their children to access a variety of school resources through the Parent Digital Consent system. This online tool can be accessed using your SIS ParentVUE account login. Parents can easily opt their child in or out of a variety of resources, including online educational tools, school counseling services, and more.

Opt In or Out to Student Devices Being Sent Home for Grades 1-6
New this year, families can opt out of having student laptops sent home with their student.
- If you do not want your student to bring their FCPS-issued device home, please toggle the Opt Out button to a check mark and confirm by pressing Save Selection.
- If you would like your student to bring their FCPS device home, no toggle action is needed. Confirm by pressing Save Selection.
Students whose families opt out will continue to have access to an FCPS-issued device during the school day. Please reach out to your student’s teacher to understand expectations for homework and any learning activities that may require access to technology outside of the school day.

Student ID Cards for Chantilly HS Bus Riders
We have been distributing student ID cards this week and will continue next week, August 31 to September 3.
Students who have student ID cards should begin tapping as they board and exit the bus. Only students who use FCPS transportation services will be provided with a student ID card at this time.
We ask for your patience! Bus drivers will begin checking in students next week and may need some extra time at each bus stop while they do this. The transportation team is working hard to minimize any potential delays.

Reporting Your Child’s Attendance:
Please do not contact (703) 222-6500 or the Main Office to report your student’s attendance.
Ways to Report Your Child’s Attendance
Each attendance request requires the following information: Your child’s first and last name, student ID (also required), date and reason for request, time (for tardy arrivals and early dismissals), your name and contact information.

ALL-DAY ABSENCE: Submit a ParentVUE absence request.

LATE ARRIVAL: Email or call before 9:00 a.m. to avoid schoolwide automated attendance notifications.

EARLY DISMISSAL: Email or call before the 10:00 a.m. request closing time
- Students with early dismissals are required to pick up their pink check-out pass from the Attendance Office by 11:20 a.m. Failure to do so may prevent them from leaving class at their scheduled dismissal time.

Attendance Discrepancies
For attendance discrepancies related to a specific class period, contact the teacher directly by email or in-person. The Attendance Office will not update attendance records entered by the class period teacher, or exchange messages back and forth on behalf of parents and teachers.
Early Dismissal Due to Illness
Students who become ill during school hours and require an early dismissal must report to the clinic, not the Attendance Office. Parents/legal guardians should not submit early dismissal requests to the Attendance Office when their student becomes ill. Early dismissal requests for students who are not feeling well during school hours will not be processed by the Attendance Office; the student will be directed to the clinic.

New Requirement for Student Device Use During the School Day
Starting this school year, students must use FCPS-issued devices for school-related digital activities during the instructional day. This is in accordance with a new School Board requirement, approved on July 16, which states that students may not use personal electronic communication or computing devices, including personal laptops, tablets, smartwatches, smartphones, and similar devices.
Students may only use their personal device if it is required as part of a necessary accommodation in the students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Section 504 Plan. A principal or the principal’s designee may approve a limited, course-specific exception for students enrolled in a specialized class when the curriculum requires a technology tool or software that isn’t available on a standard FCPS-issued device.
Families can help support this requirement by reminding students to bring their FCPS-issued device each day and use it for all school-related digital activities unless an approved exception applies.

A new Schoology Study and Support Hub is available for students in Schoology. This space was developed by the FCPS Educational Technology Team with input from students. It is designed to provide essential study tools and academic support resources directly to our learners.
Students can log in to Schoology and read their Schoology announcements or watch this video on the support hub for more information.
