Fall Weekly Recaps
Golf moved their record to 2-1 on the season with a 203-224 win over Lewis! The Atoms saw an early deficit after the first group but the second two groups picked it to put the Lancers away and win the match. The Atoms take on region power TJ Thursday evening at Pinecrest.
Girls Volleyball Atoms Girls Volleyball improved to 2-0 in district play with an impressive 3-1 set victory over Edison on Tuesday evening. The Atoms are showing early in the season why they are going to be a problem in the National District this year. Next up is their first game of the season vs Justice, Tuesday evening.
Boys Volleyball hosted Edison Tuesday evening and unfortunately came out on the losing end of this one. The Atoms battled throughout but couldn't overcome the Eagles and fell 3-0. The Atoms travel to Justice Tuesday for a district match vs the Wolves.
Field Hockey traveled to West Potomac to take on the Wolverines Monday evening. The Atoms hung tough for a while before the Wolverines put a couple in the net to take the lead and added a third late to secure the 3-0 win. The Atoms welcome West Springfield to campus Tuesday night.
Football had their home opener Thursday evening as they welcome Freedom-Woodbridge to J. Wallace Bolding Stadium. The start was a slow one for the Atoms as they led 13-0 at the half. However, the second half was a different story as they Atoms dominated the Eagles on their way to an impressive 41-0 win. The Atoms defense continued their dominance as they record three more takeaways to run their total over two games to 8. The Atoms return home for a matchup with the Meridian Mustangs Thursday night at 7:00pm
Boys and Girls Cross Country ran Tuesday evening, battling the heat and opponents. Boys Cross Country had a strong showing, with three boys runners finishing in the top 10. The girls team continues to improve and get better with each run with several runners setting personal best time. The impressive performances helped highlight the team’s hard work and continued growth early in the season.
Friday Night Lights UPDATES
Starting this fall there are updates coming to Friday Night Football Games! Starting with the first home football game on Thursday, September 3, all spectators will follow updated entry and bag policy guidelines that can be found below:
To help provide a safe and enjoyable experience and to expedite entrance into FCPS athletic events, students, family members and all spectators are reminded that the following items are prohibited:
- Backpacks
- Large Purse
- Fanny Pack
- Tote Bags
- Outside food and beverage
- Sporting equipment (balls, bats, sticks, etc.)
Middle-school students and younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Approved bags are limited to:
- Clear plastic, vinyl, or pvc bags
- Small clutch bag no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”
- Medical and diaper bags permitted but subject to inspection
ATC Holding Auditions for Fall Play
Annandale Theatre Company is holding auditions for our fall play, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Our production will be set in modern times and in a dystopian Verona, Italy. Auditions are open to all students, no previous experience necessary. Sign up for auditions here and stop by Room 324 to ask Ms. Murray any questions.

Atoms Boosters Passes
The Atoms Booster Club’s All-Season passes are back! This year our Atoms Athletic Boosters is transitioning to a digital format for the all-season passes. The developers are still working on it, and it will be rolled out soon.
Pricing for the '26-'27 season will be, Adult - $80, Student - $40, and Parking Pass - $30.
The "Atoms Pass" provides you general admission access to all regular season home football, baseball, basketball, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, volleyball, and wrestling events. With more than nine sports showcased, you can save BIG with the all-season pass!

Atoms Track Field Turf Replacement
We are excited to share another improvement to our athletic facilities at Annandale High School!
Over the last several years, our facilities have undergone several renovations, and we are pleased to announce that the artificial turf on our track field will be replaced beginning Monday, September 24 and expected to be completed by November 30.
During construction, the turf field and surrounding track will be completely closed and unavailable for use. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in staying clear of the construction area while this important project is underway.

Field Hockey Youth Clinic
Do you have a K-8 grader who is interested in playing field hockey?! Then sign up for our youth clinics and learn more about the game while working on skills and development to become a better field hockey player. Clinics will run Saturday mornings from September 12 to October 17!

Purchase a Red Card!
Each fall, our sports programs sell a discount “Red Card” to raise money for their teams. The red cards include various discounts at local businesses including: Glory Days, Subways, Jet’s Pizza, Kilroy’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dairy Queen, Lucky Strike, and AHS Sports Camps. We are very excited to announce that Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Student Activities and Athletics has partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management service, for student registration for athletics and activities.
FinalForms allows you to complete and sign athletic forms for your students online. FCPS and FinalForms have worked closely to ensure that your most sensitive information is safeguarded and meets all of FCPS’ rigorous data protection requirements.
Emails to a parent's email address on SIS should have been sent Monday, July 6 through Tuesday, July 7. ALL TRANSFER STUDENTS by default are INELIGIBLE. More information can be found on the FCPS Website.
The NEW Guardian application process must be started before the transfer students is considered "bona fide".
ALL Transfer students must complete the Guardian application process to be declared eligible.
NO TRANSFER IS ELIGIBLE UNTIL THERE IS NOTICE FROM THE GUARDIAN SYSTEM THAT INCLUDES A VHSL CITATION AND POST SEASON ELIGIBILITY.
