Dear Panther families,

What a fantastic first week of school! Our students were full of smiles as they entered the building this week. I have had the opportunity to join many Morning Meetings this week and a Restorative Justice Circle on Thursday. Both Morning Meetings and Restorative Circles are a way for our teachers to build community within the classrooms, create a safe space for students, and establish procedures and routines. I am so proud of our students’ ambassadors and patrols who spend extra time helping and guiding our younger students and our new students this week. From escorting our Kinder Cubs to their classrooms, to help ensure students know where to go for dismissal, our Panthers know how to welcome their classmates and lend a helping hand!

I continue to be so proud of our welcoming community and excited for this upcoming school year!

Get Ready for Our Spring Hill Panther Fun Run Fundraiser!

We’re thrilled for this year’s main fundraiser:  Spring Hill Panther Fun Run! Our fundraising goal is to raise $61,000 for school beautification and enhancements, including but not limited to, learning spaces in the large pod, pavilion, risers and additional furniture to benefit our students at Spring Hill Elementary.

Why are we excited?

Families will gather donations through MyBooster.com by simply sharing your student’s page with friends and family. Every share makes a difference!

Students will also enjoy 'Global Kitchen Club,' an exciting character-building adventure where they'll learn important values through recipes and activities popular around the world.

Remember to Complete Permission Forms for School Resources

Families can now easily grant consent for their children to access a variety of school resources through the Parent Digital Consent system. This online tool can be accessed using your SIS ParentVUE account login. Parents can easily opt their child in or out of a variety of resources, including online educational tools, school counseling services, and more.

Opt In or Out to Student Devices Being Sent Home for Grades 1-6

New this year, families can opt out of having student laptops sent home with their student. 

• If you do not want your student to bring their FCPS-issued device home, please toggle the Opt Out button to a check mark and confirm by pressing Save Selection.

• If you would like your student to bring their FCPS device home, no toggle action is needed. Confirm by pressing Save Selection. 

Students whose families opt out will continue to have access to an FCPS-issued device during the school day. Please reach out to your student’s teacher to understand expectations for homework and any learning activities that may require access to technology outside of the school day.

Volunteering at School

FCPS Required School Volunteer Registration

All parents and guardians must register in the Volunteer FCPS portal to participate in any school activities or field trips this year. (This includes meeting your child for lunch)

Complete your registration today:

1. Go to the Spring Hill Volunteer Portal.
2. Click Sign Up, create your account, and select General Volunteering – Level 2 (required for field trips and all school events).
3. Check your email regularly and complete any follow-up steps immediately, including background checks if required.

You cannot volunteer without an active portal account. Thank you for acting quickly to keep our students safe and supported!

Student ID Cards for Bus Riders

We [will begin/are] distributing student ID cards to all our students who ride the school bus or use FCPS transportation services.

[Add details about how student ID cards will be provided to families.]

ID cards should be worn or attached to your child’s backpack and brought to the bus each day. [We will hold them during the day, then return them to students for their bus trip home/Ask your child to put their student ID card away until the end of the day.]

Students who have student ID cards should begin tapping as they board and exit the bus. Only students who use FCPS transportation services will be provided with a student ID card at this time.

We ask for your patience! Bus drivers are checking in students and may need some extra time at each bus stop while they do this. The transportation team is working hard to minimize any potential delays.

Everything You Need to Do in SIS ParentVUE

Are you working your way through back-to-school forms and checklists? Make sure you have a SIS ParentVUE account for your family and log in to find important forms and updates. 

• Be among the first to know about weather closings, bus delays, and other critical communications from your school and FCPS by providing your cell phone number and email in ParentVUE. To update your contact information in ParentVUE, click the “Online Packets” tab in the upper right of the screen, then click the “Online Verification/Update” icon. 

• Submit daylong absences by clicking “Report Absence.”

• Check your child’s immunization records and submit updates. Please visit the How to Submit Immunization Documentation webpage for step-by-step instructions. 

If you do not have a ParentVUE account, contact your child’s school for an activation code and follow the directions on the SIS ParentVUE Account webpage.

Spring Hill Snaps At Spring Hill Elementary, our staff works endlessly to make learning engaging, safe, and joyful for our students every single day. We know that so many of you notice these daily acts of dedication, kindness, and hard work—and we want to make it easier than ever for you to share that appreciation! We are excited to launch Spring Hill Snaps! A Snap is a quick, meaningful shout-out sent directly to a staff member to share some positive mojo and brighten their day. Whether a teacher went above and beyond, a staff member offered extra encouragement, or someone simply put a smile on your child's face, we want to hear about it!  How it works: Click this link Fill out the quick, 1-minute form with your message. Our Snaps will be delivered at the end of each month to our staff and community at large. (Do not share something you wouldn’t want out whole staff or community to know) Thank you for partnering with us and for helping us celebrate the incredible team that makes Spring Hill such a special place to learn and grow.

Early Release Wednesdays

As we prepare for the new school year, we are working toward 100% completion of student online verification forms for every family before school begins. The annual re-enrollment packet includes the early release Wednesdays childcare selection. This year, we will have a total of four early release Wednesdays, where we dismiss at 12:35pm  Our dates are:

• September 30

• November 18

• January 13

•  April 7

Families may complete their forms electronically through ParentVUE, or by downloading the paper forms from the FCPS website and returning them to the school office. All online verification (OVU) forms must be completed before the start of school.
