Welcome back! We have loved welcoming our new and returning Academy students to a fantastic new school year. After kicking things off with an orientation on Academy tips and tricks, our team will be visiting classrooms over the next few weeks to connect with each class directly.
Key Announcements & Reminders
-
IDs & Lanyards: All commuting students—both bus riders and student drivers—have been issued a lanyard. Please remind your student to place their school ID in this lanyard once issued. Wearing it daily allows shuttle riders to tap IDs quickly and helps FHS staff identify Academy students in hallways and during emergencies.
-
Parking Update: Academy parking spots are completely sold out. Students without an official Academy parking tag may not park on school grounds; untagged vehicles will be ticketed and booted starting September 8. Please contact the Academy office with any parking questions.
Scroll down to learn more about our Academy Support Team and how they assist students throughout the year. Please reach out to any member of our team if you need support!
We hope you all enjoy the rest of the 1st week of school!
Warmly,
Andrea Cook

Academy parking passes are now fully sold out! Please email starvid@fcps.edu to join the waitlist for parking.
Personal Devices: A reminder that as students transition into Fairfax High School for our midday and PM classes, they should have all devices (cell phones, smart watches, headphones, etc.) off and away unless they have an exemption.
Be sure to check out our Academy Back-to-School Packet for other important reminders and information!

Your Academy attendance is separate from your base school attendance - even if your base school is Fairfax HS! Academies don’t receive attendance information from base schools. Here’s how to keep attendance correct.
Mrs. Tarvid (starvid@fcps.edu) in the Academy Office is also there to help!
Hello Fairfax Academy All-Stars!
I hope your school year is off to a great start. I am currently working closely with your base school counselors to process schedule changes. If you have questions or concerns regarding your schedule, please email me so we can work together on a solution.
As a reminder, I also support students with 504 plans here at the Academy. If you have a flash pass issued by your base school, please feel free to use it here—your teachers are aware and ready to support you. Like all school counselors, I wear many hats, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything at all.
Looking forward to an amazing school year!
Mr. Donald (ladonald1@fcps.edu)
