Room parents help facilitate communication between teachers and classroom families.
Help facilitate communication between teachers and classroom families. All room parents will be supported by our new Room Parent Liaison.
New this year, all room parents will be connected with the Room Parent Liaison, who will support room parents across the entire school. The goal of connected room parents is to ensure that all teachers are able to reach out to their classroom families with the help of the room parent. Expectations of all room parents will include:
- Organizing a text or email group for all classroom parents
- Serving as the point of contact between your teacher and all classroom parents (ie - reaching out for volunteers, sending out sign-ups for class parties, etc.)
- Encouraging your class families to be engaged in school-wide events
- Facilitating teacher appreciation events for your classroom teacher(s)
Teachers may also have other "asks" of their room parents based on their individual needs.

1. Family Day with the Washington Nationals!
Let’s head out to the ballgame! Join Colin Powell families, teachers, and friends to watch the Nationals take on the Mets. It’s the perfect way to enjoy some late-summer fun together!
- Date & Time: Sunday, September 27th at 3:00 PM
- Special Perks: Kids 12 & under get a free kids meal, can run the bases after the game, and enjoy other kid-friendly activities!

The sports fun doesn't stop in September! CPES PTA invites you to our 3rd Annual Washington Commanders outing. Come cheer on the Commanders, celebrate our amazing school community, and enjoy an unforgettable afternoon.

We’ve collected almost 300 pounds of clean & dry plastic bags so far! Your child(ren) can continue bringing the bags to school & dropping it off in collection boxes that are located in the front lobby/office. If we collect a minimum of 1,000 pounds, our school can win a Trex bench!
