Dear Belle View Families,
What a fantastic start to the school year! Students have jumped right in, spending their first week getting to know their teachers, connecting with classmates, and settling into our daily routines. Ms. Lehner and I have spent the week visiting classrooms, helping out during lunch in the cafeteria, and greeting everyone at morning drop-off. The excitement, focus, and positive energy throughout the building have been truly inspiring.
Safety & Emergency Drills Yesterday, our students and staff successfully completed our first monthly fire drill. Additionally, state guidelines require us to conduct two lockdown drills during the year—the first within the first 20 days of school, and a second shortly after the new year. Please note that Pre-K and Kindergarten students are exempt from this initial drill. To ensure families are informed, we will always send out a notification 24 hours before any lockdown drill takes place.
Upcoming PTA Meeting We hope to see you at our first PTA meeting of the school year this coming Tuesday, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM in the library. This is a great opportunity to connect, vote on our annual budget, learn about new school and district initiatives, and discuss upcoming fundraising plans. Your voice and support make a huge difference in our school community!

Student ID Cards for Belle View Bus Riders ONLY.
Starting Monday, Pre-K-2 bus riders will be given their badge to wear on the way home.
Tuesday, Grade 3-6 bus riders will receive their badges.
We will be distributing student ID cards to all our students who ride the school bus or use FCPS transportation services.
ID cards should be worn or attached to your child’s backpack and brought to the bus each day. Teachers will hold them during the day on a hook by the classroom door and then return them to students for their bus trip home.
Students who have student ID cards should begin tapping as they board and exit the bus. Only students who use FCPS transportation services will be provided with a student ID card at this time.
We ask for your patience! Bus drivers are checking in students and may need some extra time at each bus stop while they do this. The transportation team is working hard to minimize any potential delays.

For concerns after 5:30 p.m., contact the FCPS Office of Safety and Security at 571-423-2000.

Remember to Complete Permission Forms for School Resources
Families can now easily grant consent for their children to access a variety of school resources through the Parent Digital Consent system. This online tool can be accessed using your SIS ParentVUE account login. Parents can easily opt their child in or out of a variety of resources, including online educational tools, school counseling services, and more.

Opt In or Out to Student Devices Being Sent Home for Grades 1-6
New this year, families can opt out of having student laptops sent home with their student.
- If you do not want your student to bring their FCPS-issued device home, please toggle the Opt Out button to a check mark and confirm by pressing Save Selection.
- If you would like your student to bring their FCPS device home, no toggle action is needed. Confirm by pressing Save Selection.
Students whose families opt out will continue to have access to an FCPS-issued device during the school day. Please reach out to your student’s teacher to understand expectations for homework and any learning activities that may require access to technology outside of the school day.
Everything You Need to Do in SIS ParentVUE
Are you working your way through back-to-school forms and checklists? Make sure you have a SIS ParentVUE account for your family and log in to find important forms and updates.
- Be among the first to know about weather closings, bus delays, and other critical communications from your school and FCPS by providing your cell phone number and email in ParentVUE. To update your contact information in ParentVUE, click the “Online Packets” tab in the upper right of the screen, then click the “Online Verification/Update” icon.
- Submit daylong absences by clicking “Report Absence.”
If you do not have a ParentVUE account, contact your child’s school for an activation code and follow the directions on the SIS ParentVUE Account webpage.

Early Release Wednesdays for 2026-27
FCPS will continue with limited early release Wednesdays for elementary schools during the 2026-27 school year. The number of days has been reduced from eight to four.
Early release Wednesdays provide elementary teachers with a dedicated block of time to prepare lessons, participate in professional development and training, and collaborate with their peers. A well-supported and continuously improving teaching staff leads to better educational outcomes for students.

Apply Today for Free and Reduced-Price Meals!
According to the Centers for Disease Control, eating breakfast at school is associated with better attendance rates, fewer missed school days, and better test scores. Studies show that students who eat both school breakfast and lunch tend to have healthier diets than those who don't participate in school meals.
Families who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals can receive breakfast and lunch for their students at no cost or at a reduced cost. This includes more than one-third of FCPS students. Families must complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meals (FRM) application before the start of each school year. Approved applications may also qualify students for additional benefits.
The application for FRM is now available for the 2026-27 school year. Students who were approved for FRM last year are eligible for the first 30 days of school this year (or until a new application is processed). Families should reapply as soon as possible so eligible students continue to receive meals at no cost.
Access the application and view criteria and up-to-date information on the FRM webpage. Families should reach out to their schools with questions or for assistance.
Meals for Students Available Through August 21
No-cost meals will be provided to students on a first-come, first-served basis through Friday, August 21, at the sites and times listed on the FCPS Summer Food Service Program webpage. Students must remain on site while eating their meals.
