So many smiles and so much excitement! Sra. Meeker's 1st graders are ready to learn, grow, and make wonderful memories together this school year!
Hi Bailey’s Tigers!
Well, we finished our first week of the school year, and it was amazing! Our teachers and students are already hard at work building community within their classrooms and across the school, beginning their learning journeys, and practicing the routines and procedures that will keep our year running smoothly. We are also so proud of how well our students did during our first fire drill on Friday!
As we head into our second week of school, please remember that every day counts and attendance is so important. Your child is a vital part of our class and school community, and we want to see them here every day ready to learn!
Please note that there will be no school this upcoming Friday, September 4, or next Monday, September 7, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
Enjoy your Sunday evening, and we can't wait to see our Tigers back at Bailey's in the morning!

📂 This week’s Thursday Folder includes:
- Physical Education Class Schedule (English & Spanish)
- Why Attendance Matters (English & Spanish)
- Bailey's PTA Odyssey of the Mind (English & Spanish)
Please take a few minutes to review these items with your student so you stay up-to-date with all the exciting things happening in our school community!
Friday, September 4, and Monday, September 7, are Labor Day holidays for all FCPS employees and students. Virginia legislation requires that schools opening prior to Labor Day must be closed the Friday immediately preceding Labor Day. We hope everyone takes the long weekend to celebrate a strong start to the school year and enjoy time with family and friends. See the complete school year calendar.
🎒 Students return to school on Tuesday, September 8.
We hope our students and families enjoy a safe, relaxing, and wonderful Labor Day weekend together! 💙🧡

Starting Thursday, August 27, all Pre-K through 2nd-grade bus riders received a county-provided bus badge and lanyard to use for daily transit.
How the Bus Badge System Works:
-
Morning Route: Students tap their badge on the driver’s tablet when getting on the bus and tap again as they exit at school to confirm they have arrived safely.
-
During the Day: Classroom teachers store all bus badges safely during school hours.
-
Afternoon Route: Students receive their badges before dismissal and repeat the tap-on and tap-off process on their way home.
Note: If your student has not received their badge yet or happens to lose/forget it, please don't worry! Students are still permitted to ride, and drivers can manually log them in and out on their tablets.
