There were celebrations across Fairfax County Public Schools this morning as students greeted each other and teachers and administrators welcomed them back to the classroom. Students arrived at their schools excited and ready to learn!

Skyview High School Welcomes Students on Opening Day

Today was not only the first day of school, but it was also the very first day that Skyview High School opened its doors! As the first FCPS high school to open in two decades, Skyview welcomed students and staff to a year full of possibilities. Together, they are building a new school community that will continue to grow for generations to come.Â
Excitement and some first-day jitters filled the halls as new Aviators looked for familiar faces, found their classrooms, and settled into their new routines. Helpful and supportive staff members were on hand with warm smiles and an eagerness to get the first school day underway.

Thank you for your patience as we all get used to new routines this school year! We appreciate our families following kiss-and-ride procedures and being understanding while waiting for your children’s buses to arrive.
If a bus is delayed, parents and caregivers may access the Bus Delay Notification System or use the Here Comes the Bus mobile app to receive the delayed bus report (FCPS My Ride will be ready soon – we’ll let you know when). Email messages will be sent to announce bus delays of 30 minutes or more. Visit the Transportation Services webpage to find out who to contact with specific questions.
Be sure to update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE to receive emails about bus delays.

Heads Up, Helmets On: Walk, Bike, and Ride to School Safely
Whether students walk, bike, ride the bus, or are dropped off, their safety starts with all of us. Let’s work together to protect our students as they travel to and from school. Read safety tips for walkers, bikers, and drivers from the Fairfax County Police Department, including safety tips for bike, scooter, and e-bike/scooter safety.

Update Contact Information in ParentVUE
If you did not receive the message, double-check your contact information in ParentVUE. If it is up to date and you still didn’t receive Dr. Reid’s message, submit an IT support ticket that includes your student’s name, your email address, and a request to verify that you have access to messages from eNotify. This is the system that provides critical updates including bus stop information, weather closings, and other emergency messaging.
