 A Message from Ms. Kirkland
Dear Mount Eagle Families,
It was so exciting to see so many of our families at Open House! The energy is back in the building, and it was wonderful to see so many students excited to reconnect with friends and teachers and get the new school year started.
School begins Monday, August 24! Students may begin arriving on campus at 8:20 AM, and our doors will open at 8:25 AM. Our staff is ready, and we can’t wait to begin a wonderful year of learning with your children.
As your family transitions back into the school routine, here are a few tips to help make the first week a success:
-
Get to bed early. Even though the sun is still out late, children need a good night’s rest so they arrive at school ready to learn.
-
Turn off the screens. Consider having children charge their devices outside of their bedrooms overnight so they aren’t tempted to use them when they should be sleeping.
-
Bring a backpack every day. A backpack is an essential academic tool and helps students keep track of the materials traveling between home and school.
-
Start the day ready to learn. Breakfast and lunch are free for all students. Families are also welcome to pack lunches and snacks from home.
Thank you for your partnership as we begin another school year together. We are so excited to welcome our students on Monday and fill Mount Eagle with learning, laughter, and joy once again!
Warmly, Kate Kirkland, Principal
Reminder: Parking Lot is Closed in the Afternoon
Mount Eagle does not have a dedicated bus loop, so we are not able to offer Kiss N Ride in the afternoon. In order to get our buses into the parking lot to load our buses, our parking lot closes daily at 3:15 pm. Parents picking up their children may walk to campus, arrive prior to 3:15 pm to park, or park on neighboring streets and then walk to campus.
Updates to Technology in School
The Virginia legislature has passed a law updating what personal electronics are permitted in school. Starting this year, students must turn off and place in backpacks all personal electronics, including cell phones, smart watches, laptops, and wireless headphones. Students may not wear these items during the school day in the building.
