 Hello Camelot Families,
We enjoyed seeing many of you at our Open Houses these last two days, and we look forward to working with you and your child or children this school year. We will continue to follow our Camelot Mindset of See the Goodness. Be the Goodness, and we look forward to student growth in all areas throughout the school year.
As you know, the first day of school for K-6 and PAC is Monday, August 24. School hours are 9:05am to 3:50pm. Students may arrive at school beginning at 8:45am, and may head to class at 8:55am.
On Monday, the first day of school, we encourage students to arrive at school in the same way they will each day. However, we recognize that not all families were able to attend Open House, so beginning at 8:50am, we will allow parents/caregivers accompanying students to walk children to the classroom and say "see you later" at the classroom door. We do ask that parents and caregivers not linger. We cannot allow parents/caregivers to walk children to class after 9:05am.
As you know, FCPS buses may be running slightly behind schedule on the first few days for both arrival and dismissal. We appreciate your patience, as the timing will even out after the first few days.
School breakfasts and lunches are available starting on the first day of school. Free and reduced meal eligibility will remain in place from last school year until early October. Please see more details about school meals below.

Please be aware that our doorbell has shifted from the righthand wall to the lefthand wall, and the entry door for adults is now on the left. We now have a double-door vestibule to enhance security.
Student IDs for Bus Riders
We will begin distributing student ID cards to all our students who ride the school bus or use FCPS transportation services.
The ID (bus pass) will be sent home hanging from your child's backpack on the first day of school (if your child was registered in the school system as of July 2). If your child is not a regular bus rider, feel free to tuck the pass in a backpack pocket, but otherwise leave it where it is for easy access.
--If your child misplaces the bus pass, the driver can use the ipad on the bus to tap your child on and off. The school office can replace the pass as needed.
--If your child was enrolled after July 2, we need to generate a pass here at Camelot, and we will work on that next week.
--If your child will be a guest rider on a bus (such as for a playdate), the office will issue your child a paper pass that can be shown to the driver.
Students who have student ID cards should begin tapping as they board and exit the bus. Only students who use FCPS transportation services will be provided with a student ID card at this time.
We ask for your patience! Bus drivers will begin checking in students next week and may need some extra time at each bus stop while they do this. The transportation team is working hard to minimize any potential delays.

Help Your Child Navigate the Lunch Line
Check out some tips to help your child get through the lunch line quickly and have more time to eat:
- Teach your child their student ID number to receive meals at school.
- Sign up for and add money to MySchoolBucks to purchase meals at school.

Apply for free and reduced-price meals. Students who were approved for free and reduced-price meals last year are eligible for the first 30 days of school this year (or until a new application is processed). Families should submit a new application as soon as possible, so eligible students continue to receive meals at no cost.
If your child has any food allergies, learn how to submit accommodations for dietary restrictions and allergens.
