Arrival & Dismissal
OES has approximately 760 students; thus the arrival and dismissal process is very important.
Arrival (8:55-9:15)
The front of the school is for bus drop-off only. Parents are not permitted to drop off students at the front of the school or in the parking lot. If a child is arriving to school by car, please use Kiss & Ride located at the back of the school on Miller Road. Staff will be on duty at K&R beginning at 8:55 and ending at 9:15. Students should not exit the car unless they see a staff member.
Late Arrival (after 9:15)
If a child arrives to school late, a parent must escort the child into the front office and sign the child in.
Dismissal (4:00)
If your child will not be riding the school bus, please use Kiss & Ride. Parents are not to pick up children from the front of the school. Kiss & Ride is located behind the school on Miller Road.
Changes to Dismissal Transportation
Please be sure to cc the office staff and the teacher when making changes to your child's dismissal routine (kabailey@fcps.edu, msantoro@fcps.edu, edoyle@fcps.edu). Also, please remember that teachers have very limited time to check email during the day, so if the change if for the same day, please call the office to ensure that staff is aware. No changes to dismissal can be made after 3:45PM.

Student ID Cards for Oakton Elementary Bus Riders
We will begin distributing student ID cards to all our students who ride the school bus or use FCPS transportation services next week.
Students who have student ID cards should begin tapping as they board and exit the bus. Only students who use FCPS transportation services will be provided with a student ID card at this time. Please be sure your child has his/her ID card each morning when they board the bus.
We ask for your patience! Bus drivers will begin checking in students next week and may need some extra time at each bus stop while they do this. The transportation team is working hard to minimize any potential delays.

Tuesday Folders
Plan to check your child’s backpack every Tuesday! This is our special day for sending home communications to parents. Student work, newsletters,etc. will be sent home on Tuesdays.

Dietary Accommodations
The Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) is implementing a standardized process for dietary accommodations to ensure the provision of safe and healthy food served to our students by the cafeteria.. This form only needs to be filled out once while your child is enrolled in FCPS.
Complete the appropriate Dietary Accommodation form for each child in your household who needs dietary accommodation(s).

New Parent Orientation
Calling all new families to OES! Ji-Eun Kastner, OES Family Liaison, will be holding an orientation session for parents new to our school community.

 The Greater Oakton Community Association invites you and your family to Oakton Day in the Park, Sunday, August 30, from 1-4 p.m., at Oakton Community Park, 2841 Hunter Mill Rd. This free community celebration brings neighbors together for an afternoon of live music, delicious food, games, children’s activities, and family-friendly entertainment. Visitors can tour the historic Oakton Schoolhouse, meet local nonprofits and community organizations, connect with area businesses, and enjoy everything Oakton Day has to offer.
