Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! We cannot wait to see each of our Chargers at Chantilly HS on Monday, August 24, 2026. It is an “A” day and 1st period will start at 8:10 AM.
The positive energy and Charger spirit felt throughout orientation, open house, and back-to-school night have created a powerful start to the new school year! As we begin this journey together, every student, staff member, family, and community partner serves as a source of connection, encouragement, and support. By building strong relationships, engaging fully, and working together, we create a positive charge that helps every Charger feel valued and empowered to succeed. Official Student Schedules in SIS
All students should review their schedule in SIS StudentVUE on Monday as some schedules may have shifted due to some course offering changes. Because students are not permitted to use mobile phones or personal devices during the school day, we will provide every student with a copy of their schedule in their first period class. Students should check and know their first period class before arriving to school as they will not be permitted to use their phone once the bell rings at 8:10. If a student doesn’t have a first period class, they should check with their counselor when they arrive for a copy of their schedule.
Please look for an additional email message from me with details for the first day of school including information about student schedules, arrival and dismissal procedures and school security.

Arrival and Dismissal
- The building opens to students at 7:45 a.m.
- From 7:45–8:10 a.m., students must enter through Door 2 or Door 10 and complete security screening.
- After 8:10 a.m., late-arriving students and visitors must enter through Door 1.
- After dismissal, students must leave campus unless supervised by a staff member.
Transportation and Traffic
- Students eligible for FCPS transportation are strongly encouraged to ride their assigned bus.
- Walking, biking and carpooling are also encouraged.
- Bike racks are located outside Door 11. Students should wear appropriate helmets.
- Traffic is especially heavy during the first week. Please allow additional time and follow all signs and staff directions.
- Fairfax County will no longer provide crossing guards at Chantilly. Drivers and pedestrians should use extra caution.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up
- Use only the designated student drop-off and pick-up area outside Door 10.
- Do not make U-turns in the Chantilly parking lot.
- Do not drop off, pick up or park on Stringfellow Road or at Chantilly Park, the library, Kindercare, Greenbriar West ES or surrounding neighborhoods.
- Please respect our neighbors and all private property.
Student Parking
- Only students with a current parking permit may park on campus.
- Students must park in their assigned space and display their permit.
- Unauthorized vehicles may be ticketed, fined and tagged for towing after repeated violations.
- Visitor spaces are reserved for temporary visitors checking in at the main office.
Bus Information
Security Screening
All students must be screened before going to class. Doors 2 and 10 open at 7:45 AM. Before entering the screening line, students should remove these items from their bags:
- Laptops
- Three-ring binders
- Collapsible umbrellas
- Metal lunch boxes, pencil cases and glasses cases
These items may remain inside bags:
- Books, planners, spiral notebooks and folders
- Non-metal lunch boxes and pencil cases
- Cell phones, headphones and keys

Student ID Cards for Chantilly HS Bus Riders
We will begin distributing student ID cards to all our students who ride the school bus or use FCPS transportation services during the week of August 24-28.
Students who have student ID cards should begin tapping as they board and exit the bus. Only students who use FCPS transportation services will be provided with a student ID card at this time.
We ask for your patience! Bus drivers will begin checking in students next week and may need some extra time at each bus stop while they do this. The transportation team is working hard to minimize any potential delays.

Crossing Guard Update Beginning this school year, Fairfax County will no longer assign crossing guards to our school. As always, we encourage students, families, and drivers to use extra caution when traveling to and from school, follow all traffic laws, and remain alert to pedestrians and other vehicles. Because traffic patterns may be different, please allow a few extra minutes when arriving at or departing from school.

New Requirement for Student Device Use During the School Day
Starting this school year, students must use FCPS-issued devices for school-related digital activities during the instructional day. This is in accordance with a new School Board requirement, approved on July 16, which states that students may not use personal electronic communication or computing devices, including personal laptops, tablets, smartwatches, smartphones, and similar devices.
Students may only use their personal device if it is required as part of a necessary accommodation in the students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Section 504 Plan. A principal or the principal’s designee may approve a limited, course-specific exception for students enrolled in a specialized class when the curriculum requires a technology tool or software that isn’t available on a standard FCPS-issued device.
Families can help support this requirement by reminding students to bring their FCPS-issued device each day and use it for all school-related digital activities unless an approved exception applies.

Be First-Day Ready
The first day of school, Monday, August 24, is just around the corner! Check out these back-to-school tips to make sure your child gets off to a great start.

☑️ Sign Up for SIS ParentVUE
Access your student’s attendance records, grades, and assignments at any time with SIS ParentVUE. Contact our registrar at [email/phone number] if you need an activation code. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE.
Update Your Contact Information
Be sure you receive important information! Update your phone number(s) and/or email address(es) by clicking “My Account” and reviewing the “Online Verification/Update.” On that form, you can also update immunization records, health information, and emergency contacts.
☑️ Update Immunizations and Records
Immunizations are required for all students to attend school in Virginia. This is an important part of protecting them from certain diseases and keeping them healthy.
When your child is immunized, remember to request a copy of their immunization record and bring that to our front office or submit the record via SIS ParentVUE as soon as possible. Find more information on FCPS’ website.
☑️ Learn About School Meals
Families need to provide their children with money to purchase meals at school or send them with a packed lunch. Alternatively, families may apply to receive free and reduced-price meal benefits, pending approval.
☑️ Bookmark the School Year Calendar
Be sure to bookmark the FCPS school year calendar to keep track of school holidays, breaks, and observances:
- Days marked blue with an “H” are student holidays. Schools are closed on these days.
- Days marked orange with an “O” are religious and cultural observance days (or evenings, if only half marked). There is school on these days, but certain events that cannot be made up may not be scheduled on these days.
- Days marked as TW, SD, and SP and in pink are holidays for students but working days for teachers and staff.
Please note that some holidays and observances, such as Eid al Fitr, may shift, and the calendar may be adjusted.

Study Help and Support Available to Students in Schoology
A new Schoology Study and Support Hub is available for students in Schoology. This space was developed by the FCPS Educational Technology Team with input from students. It is designed to provide essential study tools and academic support resources directly to our learners.
Students can log in to Schoology and read their Schoology announcements or watch this video on the support hub for more information.
