Welcome Back Warhawks!
We had a great first day at Madison as we welcomed over 2,150 students back to school. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and have student energy back in our halls! As a reminder, we look forward to hosting our Back to School Night this Wednesday, August 26th, from 6-8pm. Parents and guardians will have the opportunity to walk their students’ schedule and meet their teachers. See below for more details. It is important to stay informed, so we will share “This Week at Madison” each Monday for you to review the upcoming happenings, reminders, and information related to Madison. Back to School Night Information
Wednesday, August 26

- PTSA, Academic Boosters, All Night Grad, HawkTalk (school newspaper), Yearbook, and Assistance with ParentVue accounts
- Senior Parent Presentation in Auditorium 5:00-5:50pm
- Join the Student Services Team for a presentation on post-secondary planning and the college application process
- Multilingual Language Learners Back to School Night in Warhawk Hall 5:00-5:50pm
- Multilingual Learners' parents and families can meet with teachers and administrators
- Special Education Parent Program (grades 9-11) in Town Hall (Room 32) 5:00-5:50pm
- Parents and families can meet with Special Education leadership and learn about Special Education at Madison.
- Back to School Night - School wide 6:00-8:15pm
- Parents should access their students’ schedules in ParentVue prior to coming to Back to School Night
Parking Off School Grounds
Please remind your student to carefully check any posted street parking signs off school grounds to make sure they are parked legally. Illegally parked cars will be ticketed and potentially towed.
I Forgot Shelf
The “I Forgot” shelf in front office is provided as a courtesy for students who may have forgotten an item. Parents may email their student directly to let them know that an item has been placed on the shelf.
Please note that the school is not responsible for monitoring, organizing, or managing the shelf or its contents. Students use the shelf at their own discretion.

STUDENT SERVICES & TESTING
College Planning Night for Seniors and Families, Wednesday, August 26, from 5:00pm-5:50pm, Auditorium
Student Services will host an overview of the college planning and application process for senior students and their families, including the transcript request process and application resources. Slides will be available here along with additional college planning programs.
SAT School Day, October 7
Seniors interested in taking the SAT School Day at Madison on October 7, MUST reserve a seat by September 2. FCPS will cover the cost for any twelfth-grade student to take the test. Students will need to use their school email account to register for the test. Madison High School: 2026 SAT School Day Intent to Participate Form
General information about the SAT School Day test format is available on the College Board webpage. Directions on how to access scores and score release dates are published by College Board via the College Board website. We will share exam day schedules and additional details in the coming weeks. If you have questions about the SAT School Day administration at Madison High School, please contact Mrs. Frate at jlfrate@fcps.edu.
PSAT/NMSQT, October 7
All 10th and 11th grade students will automatically be registered to take the PSAT/NMSQT on October 7. FCPS will cover the cost.

MAP Growth Assessments
Students in select English and Math classes will participate in MAP assessments to determine students’ status and growth this fall. English classes will test between Aug. 31-Sept.3. English classes will test between Sept. 8-11.
Tests are delivered within the classroom instructional block. For more information on this test, visit The Academic Screening, Growth, and Diagnostic Tests webpage.
Free or Reduced-Price Lunch
If your student received free or reduced-price lunch last year and you would like to continue receiving this benefit, you must complete a new application for this school year: https://www.fcps.edu/frm
Need help completing the application? Come to Madison High School and our Family Liaison, Krista Cunningham, can help you complete the application online during school hours. When you arrive, please enter through Door 1 and come to the main office.

Student ID Cards for Madison Bus Riders
We will begin distributing student ID cards to all our students who ride the school bus or use FCPS transportation services in the first week.
Students who have student ID cards should begin tapping as they board and exit the bus. Only students who use FCPS transportation services will be provided with a student ID card at this time.
We ask for your patience! Bus drivers will begin checking in students next week and may need some extra time at each bus stop while they do this. The transportation team is working hard to minimize any potential delays.

Get Ready for Day One with the FCPS App! 🎒As we gear up for the first day of school, make sure you have the FCPS mobile app downloaded! It's the quickest way to check the school year calendar, view lunch and breakfast menus, find school contacts, and jump to ParentVUE or Schoology from your phone.

Stay Informed on Classwork via Schoology
Staff utilize Schoology to share academic resources online, create secure environments for collaborative student work and dialogue, and facilitate the digital submission of assignments. This platform helps students maintain organization while fostering classroom connectivity.
Registering for a Schoology Parent Account provides visibility into:
- Course materials and class lists.
- Upcoming tasks and student assignments.
- Announcements from the school or specific groups.
To use this service, caregivers must maintain a registered SIS/ParentVUE account. Details regarding login procedures and platform navigation are available online.
