Hello Woodson Families!
On behalf of the Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO), we would like to welcome all families to the 2026-2027 school year at Woodson High School.
Whether you are a new or returning Woodson parent, we welcome your involvement with the PTSO. The easiest way to support our work is by purchasing a PTSO membership. You can join our PTSO online or in-person at back-to-school events. 100% of your membership contribution goes directly to Woodson PTSO programming, including our grant program, teacher and staff appreciation events, and community outreach.
We look forward to working with our teachers, staff, and families to provide a great school year for our students. Save the Dates
Join us at our PTSO meetings. This is a great time to interact with our school administration, student leaders, and fellow parents. Meetings start at 7pm.
As a tradition our first meeting is in-person at the Woodson library but following meetings are virtual to accommodate the busy schedules of the community (and yes, many of us join the meeting from an activity pickup parking lot, etc). The meeting link will be sent in our reminder email about the meeting. We hope to see you there!

The PTSO proudly provides the opportunity for our school community to promote their fundraisers and events.
Submission Deadline: Thursdays by 9pm
Requirements: The fundraiser or event must be open to the entire school community to participate or attend
Timeframe: 3 weeks maximum per fundraiser or event

C.G. Woodson Band Tag Day - August 29th
The Marching Cavaliers will be coming to your neighborhood on Saturday, August 29th!
On Tag Day, students go door-to-door to homes in the Woodson area asking for donations to support band activities. This is, by far, the largest fundraiser for the C.G. Woodson Band. Contributions go towards marching band show design, music & band instrument purchases & repairs, and assistance to students with financial needs, just to name a few. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
So be on the lookout for the Marching Cavaliers on Saturday, August 29th. This is a rain or shine event. They are respectful of “No Soliciting” signs and will not knock on those doors. So if you would like a visit, please make sure you take down or turn around your sign if you have one. Thank you in advance for your consideration!

New ParentVUE Mobile App
A new, more secure ParentVUE mobile app is available. Families must download the new app by Dec 2026 to ensure continued mobile access to their child’s school data. Learn more here.
New Cellphone Policy Start July 1st
The updated FCPS Cellphone Policy means Woodson students are no longer able to use cellphones, cellphone accessories, or smart devices (like smart glasses, earbuds, headsets, and other items connected to the phone) during lunchtime.
New ID Cards and Bus Navigation System
This fall, every FCPS student will receive a student identification (ID) card as part of a divisionwide effort to modernize school transportation, improve communication with families, and strengthen student safety while traveling to and from school.
Every student who rides the school bus will need to tap on and tap off the bus every day using their new Student ID card. Families can help by reinforcing this new habit with their child.
