Greetings, Forest Edge Families!
The first day of school is almost here!
Throughout the summer our school team has been planning and preparing for your students to have a strong start to the year. Yesterday, we had the opportunity to welcome back all of our FEES Teachers and Staff and the building was BUZZING with energy and excitement. As we reconnected as a staff, I shared that our theme for the year is SOARing Strong! We've built some great momentum together as a school community and we're excited to "fly steady" across many areas in our building. We were reminded that our work is driven by excellence, guided by purpose, and rooted in joy.
The start of each school year brings a special kind of joy to our staff and we're excited to spread that joy throughout the week! Please see a few of our special events below:
- Thursday, August 20, Welcome Walks! Our teachers and staff will visit neighborhoods to greet students and deliver a small welcome surprise! Visits will be brief and will take place outdoors. Can't be home? No worries! Students will have an opportunity to meet their teacher at Open House.
- Friday, August 21, Open House: Come meet your teacher, visit your classroom, and reconnect with friends before the first day of school.
- Monday, August 24, First Day of School! Doors will open at 8:35AM for students and dismissal begins at 3:35PM.
Additionally, all families should have received their child's homeroom teacher placement via TalkingPoints on Monday.
If you have any questions regarding beginning of the year information or events. Please don't hesitate to reach out. We'll see you soon!
Warmly,
Brittany N. Rogers, Ed.D

Students can log in to Schoology and read their Schoology announcements or watch this video on the support hub for more information.
Is WhatsApp one of the ways you stay connected with family, friends, and your community? Now you can use it to stay connected with FCPS, too.
Follow the new FCPS WhatsApp Channel for helpful information and reminders throughout the school year, including important announcements, upcoming dates, tips for families, and more.
There are a lot of school and FCPS webpages to bookmark, but the FCPS mobile app serves as your central hub!
Check daily meal menus and calendars with no login required, or use one-tap quick links to launch SIS ParentVUE, Schoology, and MySchoolBucks.
Download the FCPS mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
FCPS is launching a new bus navigation system, which includes student ID cards for students who ride the bus. Students will use the cards to tap on and off the bus, helping FCPS and families know exactly which students are riding which buses.
