Message from Mrs. Castillo

Our building is ready, and we are so excited to welcome back our teachers! A special thank you to our incredible custodial team, who worked tirelessly throughout the summer to make Lemon Road shine for the new year.  We have a new mural from Capital Murals and Wheat's Landscaping came by to help us beautify our exterior!   

Tomorrow, our full staff is back in the building.  We begin the day with a breakfast from our PTA - thank you parents and caregivers for supporting our PTA!  Then, by Thursday, teachers will send a welcome email to their families. Parents may also log into SIS ParentVue on Thursday, August 20 to view your child's class assignment. 

We look forward to seeing everyone at Open House on Friday, August 21 at 1:45 PM.  Your child is invited to meet their teacher, visit their classroom, drop off school supplies and then join us on the blacktop for treats and music from Back to Rock!  If you are new, we invite you to the cafeteria for a New Family Orientation and tour at 12:45 - we are excited to meet you!

LRES Parent Reminders:

• Be sure your child has a labeled backpack, water bottle, and lunch box ready for the first day.
• Order your child's school supplies or use grade level lists to shop.  If your family needs assistance providing school supplies, please contact Mrs. Reyes Gomez (Family Liaison) at kereyesgomez@fcps.edu. 
• Apply for Free/Reduced Lunch which also gives opportunities for scholarships for other school events and fees.  New applications are required every year.  
• Add money to your child's lunch account using MySchoolBucks.  
• Join the Lemon Road PTA!
• Update your child's information for us as soon as possible by clicking this link: SIS ParentVUE Online Verification/Update (OVU) Packet
• Provide consent for your child to access some digital resources used at school through the Parent Digital Consent System 
• If you have a 3 or 4 year old child interested in participating in our afternoon preschool classroom as a community peer, email Jess Phelps at jmphelps@fcps.edu

FCPS Watch & Phone Policy Change

Cellphones, smart watches, phone accessories, and all smart devices must be off and personally stored in a student's backpack from bell to bell (8:15 AM - 2:55 PM).  Smart devices include laptops, cellphones, iPads, smart watches, earbuds, headsets, smart glasses, and any other item that connect to the internet. This policy does not apply to school-issued devices which may be used for assigned schoolwork when assigned. 

Families are encouraged to visit the SR&R webpage for more information and to review additional updates to the SR&R for the 2026-27 school year. Updates for the 2026-27 school year include new Universal Grade Matrices (UGMs). UGMs are charts that show behavior expectations and school responses by grade level (K-3, 4-8, and 9-12). These at-a-glance resources are designed to make it easier for parents and caregivers to understand how schools respond to different types of behavior concerns.

Join the LRES PTA

Hello, LRES families! With summer break wrapping up and the new school year starting in less than two weeks, the Lemon Road PTA has been busy planning opportunities to keep everyone engaged throughout the year.

1. Membership: Joining the PTA is a key indicator that you support the school-home partnership that we foster.  Come be part of it!

2. K-2 PTA Soccer Club: We want all our K-2 students to join the NEW PTA Soccer Club.  Teams are forming now, scholarships are available and 75% of registration fees are donated back to the school & PTA.

3. Mabel's Labels: We are partnering with Mabel's Labels to help keep your lion organized! You can support our fundraiser "Lemon Road PTA (Falls Church)" and we'll receive 20% commission on all sales.

4. DC United Game:  Lemon Road is heading to DC United at Audi Field on Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 PM.  Tickets are $45 to sit together in the Lemon Road section 102.  Purchase your ticket(s) HERE.
5. We Need YOU: We are looking for room parents, Odyssey of the Mind coaches, Science Olympiad coaches, Math Olympiad coaches, and help on any of our PTA committees.  Email lemonroadpta@gmail.com to get involved!
