Dear Canterbury Woods Families,
It was wonderful to see so many new faces at our Popsicles on the Playground event this week! We can’t wait to welcome everyone to our Open House next week!
Our Open House will be held on Friday, August 21, from 2:00–3:00 p.m. Families are welcome to visit at any time during this hour to drop off school supplies, meet your child’s teacher, visit the classroom, and connect with our PTA and community organizations. Our specialists will also be available to answer questions and share information.
CWES parents and guardians with an email address on file will receive an email with your child’s teacher and room assignment prior to Open House. This information will also be available in ParentVUE.
Our Public Health Nurse and School Health Aide will be available during Open House for medication intake. They will also be available throughout the week if you would like to avoid the line.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone and kicking off another wonderful year together at Canterbury Woods!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Leslie Malkowski, Kaitlin Turzi, and Mindy Milliron
CWES Administrative Team
Hugo Gonzalez, PE
My name is Hugo Gonzalez. I was born in Bogotá, Colombia. I moved to the
United States as a teenager and have lived in Fairfax County for the past 38 years.
My background is in residential real estate development and investment, and I
also have a background in Psychology and Philosophy. My passions include
traveling the world with my lovely wife, Margarita; spending time with our two
children, Katherine and Andres; working out; and riding my road bike with my
best friends.
I have found a great sense of purpose in this new chapter of my life by working
with youth. I believe every child deserves to have a great role model in their life, and that is where I want to shine my light and make a difference.

Ragini White, Music
I started my teaching career in 2005. Before that I worked for a small music publishing company in my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. I worked part time for the St. Louis Children’s Choirs during college and for many years after that and finally realized that I needed to leave Music Business and pursue Music Education full time. I love being a Music Teacher and cannot imagine doing anything else! I have the best job in the world! I get to sing and dance with kids all day.
I moved to NOVA in November of 2023 as my husband accepted a job in D.C. I am very excited to join the faculty at Canterbury Woods. I am looking forward to meeting the students and getting to know the Cougar community.

Flora Vega, Family Liaison
Hello CWES! I am so excited to join you as your Family Liaison. I look forward to working with our students, families, and teachers and supporting our school community in any way I can. I am originally from Mexico, and I am also a proud mother of two children and two grandchildren.

Carolyn Klein, Instructional Assistant
I am entering my third year with FCPS (as an employee; I’m also an alum!). As an IA, I have worked with Kindergarten and first grade. I am also considering becoming a teacher. My three favorite things in the world are ice cream, books, and my cat. Looking forward to working with and learning from you all this year!

Erin Reilly, Strings
I have been teaching orchestra in Fairfax County for 10 years. I worked at Canterbury Woods in 2017-2019 as an assistant strings teacher and I am thrilled to be back as the strings director this year. I look forward to a great year of building community and music making.
