For a successful school experience for everyone, we remind families to please:
- Arrive to bus stops at least 5 minutes prior to the assigned bus arrival time. Make sure that your child has his/her student ID for the bus each day.
- Use the Kiss & Ride process; do not park in the neighborhood and have your child walk to or from the school alone.
- Follow all traffic laws, including reduced speed and not parking in front of driveways or in the crosswalks.
- Ensure all emergency contact information is updated with any changes during the school year.
- Always bring a government-issued identification (such as a drivers license) when coming into the school building.
BMP staff spent time this week engaged in professional learning around structures that engage students in language-based learning activities.

On July 16, 2026, the Fairfax County School Board directed the Superintendent to amend all device regulations, including Regulation 2601, the Students Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R).
During the instructional day, students may not use personal electronic communication or computing devices. Personal devices include, but are not limited to:
- Personal laptops
- Personal tablets
- Smartphones
- Smartwatches
- Other personal electronic communication or devices
The requirement does not apply when a student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), or Section 504, outlines device requirements.
FCPS has introduced new parent controls in the Lightspeed Parent Portal to help families manage access on FCPS-issued devices outside of school hours.
Through the Lightspeed Parent Portal, families can now:
- Set Custom Schedules: Pause or restrict internet access during specific times and days (e.g., bedtime, homework, or family hours).
- Create Custom Web Rules: Add specific websites to a custom block list to restrict access on their child's device.
For additional details, please visit the Lightspeed Parent Portal page on the FCPS website.
Construction continues...
The updated Students Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) includes new Universal Grade Matrices outlining behavior expectations and responses for grades K-3 and 4-8. You can find it at https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/leadership/district-performance-transparency/policies-regulations-notices/student-rights.
A new ParentVUE mobile app is available in the Apple and Google app stores. Multi-factor authentication is available and recommended. This version provides caregivers with a more secure sign-in. The current “classic” app can be used through this Fall, however families must download the new app by December 2026 to ensure they have continued mobile access to their child’s school data.
In the new app, families can enroll in multi-factor authentication (MFA) for FCPS Single Sign-On. While enrollment is optional, we strongly recommend that everyone enable this feature.
Learn more about installing the new ParentVUE app. Families needing assistance can submit a Support Request.
Our school health team can administer medication to students as needed, provided we have parental permission.
-
Delivery: An adult must deliver all medication directly to the school health team. Never send medication to school with a child.
-
Authorization: Please complete and submit the proper form to authorize the school to dispense medication to your student.
More information and the forms can be found at https://www.fcps.edu/services/families-and-caregivers/family-academy/school-health-services
Every FCPS student will receive an identification card. Bus riders will be expected to tap their cards when boarding and exiting each day.
