Exciting changes were underway at Brookfield all summer long! These photos capture just a glimpse of the transformation taking place. We are thrilled about all that’s ahead, and we know the best is yet to come!
A Message from Our Admin Team
Dear Brookfield Families,
Our new spaces continue to shine as we prepare to welcome teachers, students, and families back to Brookfield! Movers are busy delivering boxes to the correct locations throughout the building, while crews assemble brand-new furniture for our classrooms and shared spaces.
Today, we welcomed our front office staff back to the building. They are already hard at work preparing for the return of our teachers, students, and families. Tomorrow, we will welcome our Guiding Coalition for a day of collaborative planning. These dedicated staff members work together to lead and strengthen our professional learning community.
We are also looking forward to meeting our new families this Thursday on the playground, followed by the Chantilly Pyramid Magic School Bus event that evening. Please review these important reminders:
New Family Orientation | Thursday, August 13
Families who are new to Brookfield are invited to join us from 12 to 1 p.m. This will be an opportunity to learn more about Brookfield, meet members of our school team, enjoy a popsicle from our PTA on the playground, and become familiar with our school community.
Chantilly Pyramid Magic School Bus | Thursday, August 13
The Magic School Bus will visit several Brookfield community locations to distribute school supplies to students:
- Brookfield ES Parking Lot: 5:30 to 6 p.m.
- Chantilly Mews: 6:45 to 7:05 p.m.
- Fields of Chantilly: 7:15 to 7:45 p.m.
Brookfield will also distribute school supplies during Open House for families who are unable to attend the Magic School Bus event.
Brookfield Open House | Friday, August 21
Because parking will be limited due to construction, Open House will take place according to the following staggered schedule:
- 12 to 1 p.m.: Last names A–G
- 1 to 2 p.m.: Last names H–O
- 2 to 3 p.m.: Last names P–Z
Classrooms for students in PreK through second grade will be located in the main building. Students in grades 3–6 will visit their classrooms in Broncoville. Resource tables will be available in the cafeteria, and families will have an opportunity to meet their teachers and drop off school supplies.
There is so much excitement building at Brookfield, and we are grateful for the many staff members and community partners helping us prepare for a wonderful school year. Thank you for your continued patience and support as we put the finishing touches on our spaces. We look forward to welcoming our Broncos back very soon!

New Family Orientation - Thursday, August 13
We are thrilled to welcome our newest Broncos and their families to Brookfield for New Family Orientation on Thursday, August 13, from 12-1 p.m. Families will have an opportunity to take a brief tour of the school, meet some of our staff members, and enjoy popsicles with our PTA on the playground. Chantilly Pyramid Magic School Bus - Thursday, August 13
On Thursday, August 13, Chantilly Pyramid Schools will be riding a Magic School Bus to distribute school supplies to our students.
The Magic School Bus will be making stops at the following Brookfield locations at the following times:
- Brookfield ES Parking Lot- 5:30-6 p.m.
- Chantilly Mews- 6:45-7:05 p.m.
- Fields of Chantilly- 7:15-7:45 p.m.
Brookfield will also be distributing school supplies to our students at our Open House Event on Friday, August 21, for those unable to join for the Magic School Bus. We want to make sure everyone has what they need to learn this year!

We’re Eager to Welcome You Back to School!
As summer winds down, we are looking forward to welcoming students back to our classrooms. Use the following list to help make sure your child is ready!
☑️ Sign Up for SIS ParentVUE
Access your student’s attendance records, grades, and assignments at any time with SIS ParentVUE. Contact our registrar at 703-814-8700 if you need an activation code. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE. Also, download the new ParentVUE mobile app so you can access your child’s records easily from anywhere!
Update Your Contact Information
Be sure you receive important information! Update your phone number(s) and/or email address(es) by clicking “My Account” and reviewing the “Online Verification/Update.” On that form, you can also update immunization records, health information, and emergency contacts.
☑️ Update Immunizations and Records
Immunizations are required for all students to attend school in Virginia. This is an important part of protecting them from certain diseases and keeping them healthy.
When your child is immunized, remember to request a copy of their immunization record and bring that to our front office or submit the record via SIS ParentVUE as soon as possible. Find more information on FCPS’ website.
☑️ Learn About School Meals
Families need to provide their children with money to purchase meals at school or send them with a packed lunch. Alternatively, families may apply to receive free and reduced-price meal benefits, pending approval.
☑️ Bookmark the School Year Calendar
Be sure to bookmark the FCPS school year calendar to keep track of school holidays, breaks, and observances:
- Days marked blue with an “H” are student holidays. Schools are closed on these days.
- Days marked orange with an “O” are religious and cultural observance days (or evenings, if only half marked). There is school on these days, but certain events that cannot be made up may not be scheduled on these days.
- Days marked as TW, SD, and SP and in pink are holidays for students but working days for teachers and staff.
Please note that some holidays and observances, such as Eid al Fitr, may shift, and the calendar may be adjusted.

New Student ID Cards Coming for Bus Riders This Fall
As part of the ongoing commitment to strengthening layered safety and security programs, FCPS will implement a new student ID system for students who ride our school buses.
The implementation of the student IDs is designed as an additional safety measure for our 130,000 FCPS students who ride the bus each day, ensuring they are on the right bus and that they get on and off at the correct bus stop, as well as making sure only authorized students are on our buses.
The IDs will be provided to students who ride the bus. Those students will be expected to tap on and tap off the bus. The student IDs do not track student movement. The only information available is when a student taps on or off a bus. Much like our Here Comes the Bus app, our new app will allow parents/guardians to track the progress of the school bus.
It is possible that the ID program will expand in the future to include uses such as library cards and meal payment. Learn more about the new transportation system and student ID cards.

Understanding Student Rights and Responsibilities Updates: New Universal Grade Matrices for Families
Families are encouraged to review the updated FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) document, which explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses in order to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.
Updates for the 2026-27 school year include new Universal Grade Matrices (UGMs). UGMs are charts that show behavior expectations and school responses by grade level (K-3, 4-8, and 9-12). These at-a-glance resources (in Appendix D of the SR&R) are designed to make it easier for parents and caregivers to understand how schools respond to different types of behavior concerns.

New Requirement for Student Device Use During the School Day
Starting this school year, students must use FCPS-issued devices for school-related digital activities during the instructional day. This is in accordance with a new School Board requirement, approved on July 16, which states that students may not use personal electronic communication or computing devices, including personal laptops, tablets, smartwatches, smartphones, and similar devices.
Students may only use their personal device if it is required as part of a necessary accommodation in the students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP) or Section 504 Plan. A principal or the principal’s designee may approve a limited, course-specific exception for students enrolled in a specialized class when the curriculum requires a technology tool or software that isn’t available on a standard FCPS-issued device.
Families can help support this requirement by reminding students to bring their FCPS-issued device each day and use it for all school-related digital activities unless an approved exception applies.
Nuevo requerimiento sobre el uso de dispositivos electrónicos durante la jornada escolar.
A partir de este año escolar, los estudiantes deberán utilizar los dispositivos proporcionados por FCPS para realizar actividades digitales relacionadas con sus clases durante la jornada escolar. A Message from the Health Room
Greetings from your school Health Room! Our Health Room team is excited to partner with you in supporting the health and well-being of your student. Our goal is to help every student stay healthy, safe, and ready to learn. The Health Room team is here to provide care for illness or injury during the school day, assist in managing health conditions, administer medications as needed, screen hearing and vision as indicated, and promote healthy habits. We value strong communication with families. Please keep us informed of any health concerns or medical needs your child may have so we can support them effectively throughout the school year.
How can you help us provide the best possible care for your student?
Does your student require a special diet?

If your student requires a modified diet and will eat school meals, please refer to the Steps to Request Dietary Accommodations. Forms are available for students who require medical dietary accommodations and those who cannot drink cow’s milk and need milk substitutes. Also, if your student currently receives a dietary accommodation and it is no longer needed, there are also steps to discontinue the current accommodation.
Has your student had a head injury at home?
Has your student had an injury at home that may impact their physical activity at school?
Does your student have a medical condition, require medication during the school day, or need a health care procedure?

If your student has a seizure disorder (epilepsy), please have your student’s health care provider complete the FCPS Authorization for Seizure Action Plan (SS/SE-385) and return it to the school public health nurse (PHN). This includes authorization for seizure rescue medications and procedures that may be required during the school day.

If medication must be administered during the school day, please follow the guidelines established in the current version of FCPS Regulation 2102.

- Bring your student’s medications to the health room during open house or during the school year. If it’s a prescribed medication, keep the medication in its original container with the pharmacy label. We can only accept a 30-day supply. If it's an over-the-counter medication, please provide a new unopened bottle with no more than 100 pills.
