Annandale Students, Parents and Community:

I am excited to welcome our teachers back tomorrow for the opening of the 2026-27 school year!

We will come together for our opening General Session, titled “Who We Are.” We will ground in the people who make Annandale special - our students, community, and staff, and share the tremendous success we had this past year. Over the course of the week, we will reconnect with our priorities of relationships and support, high quality instruction, and strong collaboration and share how we will continue to get better in service of our students and community.

This Thursday, August 20, we are excited to welcome students and families into the building at our Freshmen & New Student Orientation and Open House. The Freshmen & New Student Orientation will begin at 1:30pm. The event will include:

  • Annandale Welcome & Pep Rally: Students and families will meet in the gym and be welcomed to Annandale HS with a performance by our band and cheerleaders. Students and families will meet the school principal, administration team, counselors, and student leaders, and students will also receive their schedules.
  • Scavenger Hunt: After receiving their schedules, students will have the opportunity to explore Annandale and find important places throughout the building.
  • Parent Information Session: While students explore the school, families can visit tables set up in the cafeteria as well as Clausen Hall to get important information about school.

Open House will be held from 3:00-4:00pm and will provide all students an opportunity to walk through our halls and find their classes before the first day of school. There is no formal program during this time. It is an informal opportunity to get reacquainted with our school and prepare for a great start to the year.

Student schedules will be available in SIS StudentVUE and ParentVUE this Thursday, August 20 at 6:00am. For more information about obtaining a ParentVue account, please click here to access support on the FCPS website.

Finally, help us welcome our teachers back in style! The PTSA Welcome Back Breakfast will also be held on Thursday, August 20. Whether you can volunteer your time, donate breakfast items, or make a financial contribution, your support will help us show our appreciation for our amazing staff and give them a warm start to the new school year. Sign up here!

As always, please reach out if you have any questions.

Parents will received an e-notify to check their ParentVue accounts for transportation information. Please note that the provided times are estimates and that buses may be delayed due to weather, traffic conditions, and a national and regional driver shortage. Please check the Here Comes the Bus app or FCPS School Bus Delays website for potential delays. Students are expected to be at their bus stop at least five minutes before the scheduled pickup time. A double back route assignment may require your bus schedule to be adjusted earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon.

Note: This fall, all Annandale High School students will receive a new FCPS student ID card. Students who ride the school bus will use their ID to tap on and tap off the bus each day. These new ID cards are part of a divisionwide effort to improve student safety, modernize school transportation, and strengthen communication with families.

Get Your School Laptop Ready: With the first day of school just around the corner, now is the time for a quick technology check. Please have your student locate their school device and charger, plug it in, and make sure the device is fully charged. When turning it on, students may see a prompt for a system update. If so, please select “Update now” and allow the update to finish. Taking a few minutes now will help ensure our students are ready to get started on day one. We appreciate your help preparing for a great start to the school year!

During the school day, including during lunch time, high school students will have to keep cellphones and other smart devices off and stored in a locker, backpack, pouch, purse, etc. This policy does not apply to school-issued devices.
