Jeremy Ferrara

Good Afternoon,

I’m so excited to join the Haycock community and work with all of you! My name is Jeremy Ferrara, and I officially began serving as your child’s principal on Monday, August 3.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with Jenn Ganci, Haycock’s interim principal, as I’ve learned about the incredible people, traditions, and opportunities that make Haycock such a special place. I want to thank Jenn for everything she’s done to prepare for this transition. She’s been incredibly generous with her time and has made this process seamless. I truly appreciate all of her hard work and support.

A little about me: I’ve spent the past three years as an assistant principal at Glasgow Middle School in FCPS. Before that, I served as an assistant principal for seven years in Falls Church City Public Schools at Mount Daniel Elementary and Oak Street Elementary. I started my career as a fourth-grade teacher at Taylor Elementary in Arlington, where I also served as the STEAM Coordinator, Testing Coordinator, and Instructional Lead Teacher over the course of nine years.

My wife, Sara, and I live just over the Haycock boundary in Falls Church City with our two children, Naomi, who is five and very proud of it, and Ruben, who is about to turn eight. We’re also members of Temple Rodef Shalom, right next door. After years of observing Haycock from the community, I am so excited to dive in as Haycock’s principal.

One of my biggest priorities is getting to know your children and families.  Please reach out to Cathie Eames (CJEames@fcps.edu) if you would like to set up a phone call or meeting as I get settled at Haycock.

I would like to invite you to one of two opportunities to meet me!

  1. Meet the Principal- Tuesday, August 11, 3:00-4:00 PM Join us on the Haycock playground for popsicles and conversation. Families are welcome, so bring your kids!
  2. Principal's Coffee: Get to Know Me- Thursday, August 13, 9:00-10:00 AM Stop by the Haycock cafeteria for coffee and an informal opportunity to meet me, ask questions, and get to know one another.

I hope you’re enjoying a wonderful summer and finding time to relax, travel, and enjoy some outdoor activities.  I can’t wait to meet all of your children and begin building long-standing relationships with all of our families.  It’s an honor to join this community, and I’m looking forward to an incredible year together.

See you soon!

Jeremy Ferrara
