CES Summer Edition 8.17.26 - Welcome Back School Preparation

Principal's Message

Dear Chesterbrook Families,

We are excited to welcome you back to school next Monday! We have been planning all summer and are putting the final touches on the school year as our teachers and staff returned to the school building today. The energy and enthusiasm filled the building.

There are a lot of important details in this newsletter to help you prepare for the 1st day. Please take some time to review all details to help get our year off to a smooth start!

Homeroom teachers will be reaching out to families with welcome emails at the end of the workday on Wednesday. Additionally, families will be able to view their child's 2026-27 teacher assignment beginning at 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20 through their ParentVUE account.

If you have not yet activated your ParentVUE account, you can learn more and get started by visiting the FCPS ParentVUE information page. We will be able to support families during Open House as needed.

Chesterbrook has been undergoing three major building upgrades this summer including finalizing our exterior security cameras, tree work around the property including elevation of limbs and clearing of many leaning and deteriorating trees and installation of a new building HVAC system. I want to extend my thanks to our central facilities team that evaluate and help maintain our building. After 100 years, Chesterbrook Elementary only gets better and better. Our custodial team is putting the finishing touches on cleaning rooms and grounds and teachers are pouring love into our classrooms to welcome students. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Stacy Kirkpatrick
Principal, Chesterbrook Elementary

Bike It Program

At Chesterbrook we will be encouraging safe biking and walking to school.  We realize most of our youngest students will be walking with adults.  If your child is in 4th, 5th or 6th grade and you would like to give them permission to walk or bike independently, parents are welcome to complete a permission form.

Click this link to download the Bike/Walk Permission Form

Please note that E-Bikes and E-Scooters are NOT allowed to be ridden to or from school during school hours. The speed and size of the majority of motorized devices being seen within our community, along with the congestion of sidewalks during the arrival and dismissal times creates hazardous conditions for pedestrians. The use of manual bikes and scooters is highly encouraged and supported!

Cafeteria Volunteers Needed

We would love to have parent volunteers support in our cafeteria this school year. Chesterbrook utilizes parent volunteers along with our CES staff to support student needs during lunches. Having consistent parent volunteers that can support one day each week tends to work best, so volunteers can build relationships with students.

We would love to have your support! Click here to sign up.
Email Mrs. Kirkpatrick with any questions.

General CES Volunteer Opportunities

Room Parents, Classroom Activities and Field Trips all require parents to be enrolled as a volunteer in our school system. Please take a moment to complete the volunteer form now to get ready for the school year.

id cards

New Student ID Cards for Bus Transportation

You may have heard about new FCPS student ID cards. ONLY students that ride a bus will be issued an ID card at this time. At Chesterbrook, we are planning to have cards distributed and in use for bus riders by the 3rd week of school. More information to come!

Students will use the cards to tap on and off the bus, helping FCPS and families know exactly which students are riding which buses.

Learn more about the new system and how it will improve route efficiency, safety, and transparency with families. Check out the frequently asked questions for families.
