Hello MUES Families,
We are just a few weeks away from welcoming our school team back so that we can prepare for the start of the 2026-2027 school year! This summer has been busy at McNair Upper ES as we hosted several summer school programs for students enrolled at McNair Upper ES, McNair ES, and Coates ES. Ms. Michaels, 5th grade teacher, served as the summer school principal where she did an incredible job making sure that children were safe and learning; in addition, to making sure that each day went smoothly. Please join me in thanking Ms. Michaels as well as many members of our school staff (Ms. Polito, Ms. Kelley, Ms. Pantalone, Ms. Bruland, and Ms. Anderson, Ms. Warnock, and Ms. West) for helping with summer school.
As we prepare for a fantastic start, I would like to share a few important announcements of upcoming events as well as some reminders to help your family get ready for the first weeks of school.
MUES New Family Meet & Greet
If your family is new to the McNair Upper community (new families coming from Coates ES, other schools in FCPS, out of state, out of country, or rising 3rd graders), I invite you to join Mr. Credle, Assistant Principal, and myself for our annual MUES New Family Meet & Greet, which will be held on Monday, August 17th at 1:00 PM. Please check-in at door #1 (our main school entrance) where the office team will direct you to the cafeteria for our time together.
We look forward to partnering with you throughout the year to support every Mustang's success!

Signing up for a SIS ParentVUE account helps you to support your child’s academic success! Caregivers can view important information like attendance, grades, progress reports, and assessment scores through ParentVUE.
Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same ParentVUE account. It is available online and as a mobile app for Apple and Android devices.

If you already have an account, be sure your contact information is up to date. Parents/guardians can update their phone numbers or email addresses in the Parent/Guardian section. View additional details about ParentVUE.
On Tuesday, July 28, a new ParentVUE mobile app became available in the Apple and Google app stores. This new app provides parents and caregivers with a more secure sign-in. The current “classic” app will remain active for about six months. Families must download the new app by December 2026 to ensure they have continued mobile access to their child’s school data.
In the new app, families can enroll in multi-factor authentication (MFA) for FCPS Single Sign-On. While enrollment is optional, we strongly recommend that everyone enable this security feature.

This fall, every FCPS student will receive a student identification (ID) card as part of a division-wide effort to modernize school transportation, improve communication with families, and strengthen student safety while traveling to and from school.
Every student who rides the school bus will need to tap on and tap off the bus every day using their new student ID card. Families can help by reinforcing this new habit with their child.
All students at our school will need to wear their student ID cards throughout the school day. We will be handing out the new student ID cards the first few weeks of school. More details will be shared soon.

FCPS will continue with limited early release Wednesdays for elementary schools during the 2026-27 school year. The number of days has been reduced from eight to four.
Early release Wednesdays provide elementary teachers with a dedicated block of time to prepare lessons, participate in professional development and training, and collaborate with their peers. A well-supported and continuously improving teaching staff leads to better educational outcomes for students.
