The Liberty Ledger: Summer Edition
Principal's Message
Hello Liberty Families,
I hope you and your family are enjoying a wonderful summer! While students are making the most of their break, many of our staff have been hard at work preparing for an exciting start to the 2026–2027 school year. We can't wait to welcome back our rising 8th graders and officially welcome our newest Lions, our rising 7th graders, to the Liberty family.
Below you'll find a few important updates and upcoming events to help you prepare for the new school year. We will continue to share additional information and reminders as we get closer to the first day of school.
Leap into Liberty – Thursday, August 13
Our Leap into Liberty program is a great opportunity for rising 7th graders to get a head start before the first day of school. Students will become familiar with the building, meet staff, learn organization and technology tips, and build confidence for a successful transition to middle school.
Event Details
- Thursday August 13 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
- Lunch and transportation from our feeder elementary schools will be provided.
- There is no cost to attend.
- Registration is limited so be sure to sign up soon!
Additional registration and transportation information is available through the Leap into Liberty sign-up, and we encourage families to register early.
A Busy Summer at Liberty
Liberty has been full of energy this summer as we host the Western Fairfax VIP Summer Program. This program brings together students and staff from five different middle schools for an engaging summer experience where students stay active, explore new interests, and build lasting friendships through sports, games, creative arts, STEM activities, and more.
As part of the program, Liberty will host an Emergency Services Day on Tuesday, July 28. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the important work of our local first responders through hands-on experiences and demonstrations. Participating agencies may include fire and rescue crews, police motorcycles, the Marine Division, the Drone Unit, and other emergency response teams. We are also hopeful that the helicopter unit will be able to join us this year.
Because of this event, families and community members may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and personnel at Liberty throughout the day. We wanted to make our community aware so there is no concern if you see this activity around the school. Please note that this event is part of the Western Fairfax VIP Summer Program and is not open to the public.
