summer students engaged in water play and outdoor exploration

Kings Park Families,

We hope you are staying cool and finding time to relax and make memories together this summer. While our hallways are a little quieter, they are certainly not empty! Our preschool students have been enjoying water days to beat the heat, and our Code Up! campers have been busy discovering, designing, and showcasing their creativity, curiosity, and engineering skills. It has been wonderful to see learning and laughter continue throughout the summer months.

As you enjoy the rest of your summer, please take a few moments to review the important updates and reminders below as we prepare for another exciting school year.

Kings Park Admin Team

Sincerely,

Mrs. Dotty Lin, Mrs. Jenn Burke and Mrs. Anna Kaplan

Reminder: End-of-Year Progress Reports & Student Belongings

If you have not yet picked up your child's end-of-year progress report or any personal belongings and school supplies, please stop by the school office during our summer office hours (9:00am - 12:00pm) to claim them.

All unclaimed items must be picked up by Friday, July 31. After that date, any remaining supplies and personal belongings will be donated or disposed of. We appreciate your help in making sure these items find their way home.

Kindergarten and New Student Registration

Online Registration is now open for the 2026-27 school year!

  • New-to-FCPS families create a ParentVUE account for online access.
  • Current FCPS families can register their new student through their existing ParentVUE account.  (No need to register students returning to Kings Park)

Our Registrar, Nancy Sawicki, is happy to process registrations directly, as well.  Please contact her at nesawicki@fcps.edu and be ready to provide your family’s address and student’s date of birth. Nancy will respond with registration details and documents necessary to start the process.

Registration information and forms are also available online at https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/registration

We kindly request that you begin the registration process as soon as possible to ensure you are on the list for school communications and that KPES is allocated the appropriate number of teachers.

Preschool Community Peers - Apply Now!

Kings Park’s preschool program is seeking community peers to learn alongside preschool students with disabilities in a nurturing, high-quality environment. Families with children in our community, ages 3-5, who meet program criteria, can apply now. If selected, community peers will begin attending preschool at Kings Park at a date to be determined.

Complete the Interest Form if you would like to have your child considered to be a community peer.

Early Release Wednesdays for 2026-27

FCPS will continue with limited early release Wednesdays for elementary schools during the 2026-27 school year. The number of days has been reduced from eight to four.

Early release Wednesdays provide elementary teachers with a dedicated block of time to prepare lessons, participate in professional development and training, and collaborate with their peers. A well-supported and continuously improving teaching staff leads to better educational outcomes for students.

Please view the dates for Kings Park’s 2026-2027 early release Wednesdays below:

  • September 30
  • November 18
  • January 13
  • April 7

Visit the FCPS website for more information about early release Wednesdays.

Volunteering at Kings Park

  • Create a profile in Volunteer FCPS
  • Complete a volunteer orientation and register for opportunities through Volunteer FCPS.
