Dear Bucknell Families,
We hope you're enjoying a wonderful summer filled with fun, relaxation, and special time together. While our hallways are quiet right now, we sure are missing our Bulldogs! We are also so excited to welcome all our newest Bulldogs to the Bucknell family this fall.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jack and Jill of America, Inc. – Northern Virginia Chapter and The Ophelia Foundation for their incredible generosity. Because of their kindness, we were able to purchase approximately 100 additional school supply kits for Bucknell families in need. Their support will help ensure that so many of our students begin the school year prepared, confident, and ready to learn. We are truly grateful to have such caring community partners standing beside our Bucknell family.
New Bucknell Spirit Wear – Pre-Sale is Open!
This week we're excited to highlight our new Bucknell merchandise! Place your order during our pre-sale, and your items will be ready for pickup at Open House/Back to Bucknell or on the first day of school. Pre-orders will be taken through MySchoolBucks or you can bring cash/check to the Bucknell Office from 9am – 2pm daily. Don't miss your chance to show your Bucknell pride!

Show your Bulldog pride with new Bucknell spirit wear! Spirit shirts are available for $15, and canvas tote bags are available for $10. Place your order online through MySchoolBucks, or bring cash or a check payable to Bucknell Elementary School to the main office.
When ordering, please include your child’s first and last name somewhere in the order so we can easily distribute purchases. Orders will be available at Bucknell Open House or on your child’s first day of school. The presale ends Monday, August 3!

Save the Date for Summer Playdates!
We can't wait to welcome our newest Bulldogs! Join us this August for a fun afternoon on the Bucknell Elementary playground where children can meet their teachers, make new friends, explore the playground, and enjoy a free popsicle. Whether your child is entering Traditional Kindergarten or our new Montessori program, these playdates are a wonderful way to begin building connections before the first day of school. We look forward to seeing your family there!

Fairfax County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services will continue providing summer meals to support children and families when school is not in session. Free meals are available to all children and teens 18 years of age and younger at designated FCPS summer meal sites, regardless of income or school enrollment. Meals are served onsite at participating locations from the Monday after school lets out through the Friday before the new school year begins.

Virginia SUN Bucks helps eligible families pay for groceries during summer break, when most schools are closed. In 2026, each eligible school‑age child will receive a one‑time $120 benefit. Benefits will be added to your household’s SNAP EBT card. Eligible families who do not have a SNAP EBT card will be mailed a separate Virginia SUN Bucks card that works like a debit card. You can use SUN Bucks to buy groceries — including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, dairy and meat — at grocery stores, farmers markets and other businesses that accept SNAP EBT benefits.
Families can automatically eligible if your household participates in SNAP, TANF, or income-based medical assistance. Students who attended a school that offered free or reduced-price meals during the school year may also be automatically eligible. If you need to apply, you can complete a new online application or print and mail a paper application to the Virginia Department of Social Services. Alternatively, the Virginia SUN Bucks Call Center (866-513-1414) will accept applications June 15 through August 31 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
