Olde Creek Leadership Updates

Dear Olde Creek Families,

As we head into the heart of summer, I am writing to share some important updates regarding our leadership team at Olde Creek Elementary for the upcoming school year.

Fond Farewell to Stephanie Kaminsky

First, I am writing to share some bittersweet news. Stephanie Kaminsky, our beloved Assistant Principal over Special Education, has accepted a new position as a General Education Assistant Principal at Cub Run Elementary School. While we are heartbroken to see her go, this new role brings her much closer to home and reunites her with a familiar staff.

For the past four years, Mrs. Kaminsky has served Olde Creek with unmatched dedication, heart, and expertise. Her unwavering commitment to our students, families, and staff has been instrumental in shaping Olde Creek into the wonderfully inclusive school it is today. We are profoundly grateful for everything she has poured into our community. We will miss her terribly, but we wish her the absolute best in her next chapter!

Warm Welcome to Dara Ryan

While we say goodbye to one amazing leader, we are also incredibly excited to officially welcome Dara Ryan as one of our new Assistant Principals!

Ms. Ryan brings a wealth of diverse educational experience to Olde Creek. She has been teaching since 2009 and joined Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) in 2012, starting her FCPS journey as a 6th-grade teacher at Mount Eagle Elementary. Throughout her impressive career, she has taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades at the elementary level, as well as 7th grade math. Most recently, she served as the School-Based Technology Specialist (SBTS) at Jackson Middle School, where she was an active member of their instructional leadership team.  We are thrilled to bring her vast instructional knowledge and passion for student success to our school community. Ms. Ryan will be expanding her family come August and will look forward to joining us when she returns from parental leave.

Looking Ahead

As we look forward, we want to ensure a smooth transition for our special education programming. We will begin interviewing for our next Special Education Assistant Principal towards the end of July, with the goal of having our new leader in place and ready to hit the ground running just as our staff and students arrive in August.

Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and dedication to the Olde Creek community. Please join me in thanking Mrs. Kaminsky for her years of service and giving Ms. Ryan a warm Bears welcome!

Do your best to stay cool during these VERY HOT days of summer. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.

Sincerely,

Courtney Korb
Principal
