A Final Note of the year from the VRES PTA
As the 2025–2026 school year comes to a close, the VRES PTA would like to take a moment to reflect on a wonderful year and, most importantly, say thank you!
Before we wrap things up, we want to express our deep appreciation for all of your support throughout the year. We truly could not do what we do without our Virginia Run families. From donations and volunteering, to decorating trunks, attending Spirit Nights, and supporting teacher appreciation events, we are so lucky to be part of such an engaged, generous, and dynamic community.
We would also like to thank the PTA Board members who served this year:

Kimberly Wilson, VP of Education — before and after school clubs, assemblies, Science Quest and Science Night
Kyle Jewett, Treasurer — budget guru and bill-paying hero
Laura McAndrews, Secretary — Meeting minutes, Wednesday folder copier
Skylar Ha, VP of Social — our event-planning pro, Fall Fest, Bingo Night, teacher appreciation and hospitality
Matthew Reklau, President — Boosterthon, Viking Dash and enabling others to shine
Now onto the 2025-2026 PTA Wrap Up!
Events and Activities
The PTA Board was busy throughout the year. Here are some highlights:
- September - Boosterthon whose proceeds directly benefited the needs of the school (see financials below)
- October - free Fall Fest and Trunk or Treat event
- November - Bingo Night
- December - Extreme Science! School assembly
- February – Bingo Night, Nothing Bundt Cakes fundraiser for Valentines
- April – free VRES/CRES Volleyball/basketball game and cheerleading. Viking Dash.
- May – Family Science Night, Science Quest, Teacher Appreciation Week
- June – Beatboxing assembly
- Throughout the year we held spirit nights at Red Robin, Silver Diner and Funland.
- Provided 34 before and after school club enrichment opportunities.
Supporting Our Teachers and Staff
This year, the PTA continued to show appreciation for the incredible Virginia Run teachers and staff who do so much for our students every day.
Throughout the year, we provided a Welcome Back Lunch, Staff Snack Cart, Winter Breakfast and Gifts, Valentine Candy Bar, Lounge Decorations, a Coffee & Tea Station. We also supported the school’s Ugly Sweater Contest by preparing gifts for the winners.
During Teacher Appreciation Week, we celebrated our teachers and staff with a week full of special events, including a fun Lucky Duck Prize Game and a colorful DIY lanyard bar, Grill Luncheon (Homemade K-Food Tasting Bar), Massage Day, Coffee Truck Day, Breakfast and a special raffle celebration!
We are especially grateful to Skylar Ha and her Hospitality Team, who organized many of these events with such care, creativity, and generosity.
We also celebrated and recognized many of the people who help make Virginia Run such a special place, including Administrative Professionals, Bus Drivers, School Lunch Heroes, Custodians, Counselors, Crossing Guards, School Nurses, our Librarian, and our Principal and Assistant Principals. The PTA also connected with students through a monthly Student Newsletter featuring Art Challenges and Viking Quizzes. Students had opportunities to participate, showcase their creativity, and earn certificates and prizes throughout the year.

A year of enriching the lives of our students, families, and teachers-all made possible by the generosity and support of the Virginia Run Elementary community.

Elections for 2026-2027 happened at the Art Walk on Wednesday June 10. The following is the board for 2026-2027.

We are so grateful for this community and proud of everything we accomplished together. We wish our Virginia Run students, families, teachers, and staff a wonderful summer and all the best in the year ahead.
