PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Spartan Families,
As we close out the school year, we are filled with immense gratitude for our wonderful students, our dedicated staff, and our incredibly supportive community. What an incredible school year it has been! Looking back on the past ten months, there are so many things to be proud of, both big and small—from major academic and extracurricular milestones to the daily moments of kindness and perseverance in our hallways.
This was a year defined by growth, connection, and adapting to new routines together. From our very first week, we introduced several new initiatives to keep our campus secure, and our classrooms focused. Thank you for your immense patience, flexibility, and partnership as we successfully implemented these changes to create the safest, most productive learning environment possible for our students.
To our families: thank you for trusting us with your children every single day and for being our strongest partners in their education. We could not do this important work without you.
We wish you all a safe, relaxing, and wonderful summer break. Disconnect, make beautiful memories, and recharge. We cannot wait to see you back in the fall!
With deep appreciation,
The WSHS Administrative Team
SPARTAN SPOTLIGHT
West Springfield High School Earns National Green Flag Award
We are excited to share that West Springfield High School has been recognized as a National Wildlife Federation Eco-School and has earned the prestigious Green Flag Award, the highest level of Eco-Schools certification. The Green Flag Award recognizes schools that demonstrate excellence in environmental action and student-driven leadership.
This achievement reflects the dedication and leadership of students in the Get2Green program and Environmental Club, led by Mrs. Averette. Throughout the year, students planned and led a variety of sustainability initiatives focused on environmental stewardship, waste reduction, community engagement, and student leadership. Their efforts included expanding school-wide sustainability programs, educating peers and the community, and developing projects that created a positive environmental impact both within our school and beyond.
A major component of their work involved connecting with the broader community through educational outreach, partnerships with local organizations, and projects designed to promote environmental awareness. Students also worked to increase biodiversity on campus through the addition of native trees. These trees will help improve the school's carbon footprint while providing long-term environmental benefits, including enhanced wildlife habitat, improved air quality, stormwater management, energy savings.
This national recognition reflects the hard work, creativity, and commitment of our students and serves as an example of the positive difference young people can make in their community. Congratulations to our Environmental Club members and everyone who helped make this achievement possible! 🌱🏆💚
West Springfield won the softball championship in the VHSL Patriot District. They defeated Lake Braddock 1-0 in the title game.

🎉ATTENTION ALL RISING SENIOR CLASS OF 27 PARENTS!🎉
It’s time to pass the torch for the All Night Grad Party to the Class of 2027!
We are looking for parents and volunteers to join the steering committee and help carry on this wonderful tradition. There are several important fundraising opportunities, planning decisions, and commitments that need attention soon, so getting a committee in place as quickly as possible will help set the Class of 2027 up for success.
Starting now gives your team the best chance to secure your preferred event date, transfer important resources such as bank account information, and begin planning fundraising efforts early. The sooner you get started, the more opportunities you'll have to raise funds - and the more exciting experiences, activities, and memories you can provide for your graduates!
The Class of 2026 steering committee is ready and excited to help you every step of the way. We’ll share our notes, timelines, lessons learned, fundraising ideas, and helpful tips to make the transition as smooth as possible. We are committed to walking alongside you for as long as you need us, answering questions, offering guidance, and cheering you on throughout the process.
Even if you're not ready to take on a leadership role right now, we don’t want to lose track of parents who would like to help along the way. If you're interested in volunteering at any level, please take a moment to CLICK HERE and complete the volunteer interest form. Once the steering committee is established, they can reach out with opportunities to get involved.
If you believe your senior and their classmates deserve a safe, fun, and drug- and alcohol-free way to celebrate all of their hard work and achievements, we encourage you to get involved. This event is a cherished tradition in our community and provides one last special opportunity for our students to celebrate together before graduation.
We can’t wait to help the Class of 2027 make this event another incredible success!
