🐝A Message from the Principal

Dear Herndon Elementary Families,

As we close another wonderful school year, I want to take a moment to thank our students, staff, and families for making this year such a success.

Over the past ten months, our Bees have learned, grown, persevered, and achieved so much. We celebrated academic accomplishments, performances, field trips, service projects, promotions, and countless moments of joy both inside and outside the classroom. We also watched students build friendships, develop confidence, discover new interests, and take important steps toward their future goals.

This year brought many reasons to celebrate. Our students demonstrated stronger academic growth, our multilingual learners reached important language development milestones, and our staff continued to provide engaging learning experiences that challenged and supported every child. Most importantly, our students showed resilience, kindness, curiosity, and determination throughout the year.

As I reflect on the final weeks of school, I am especially grateful for the opportunity to celebrate milestones across every grade level. From our PreK promotion ceremonies to our 6th Grade Promotion and Legacy Walk, these moments reminded us of the incredible journey our students take during their time at Herndon Elementary.

None of this would be possible without the partnership between our school and our families. Thank you for supporting learning at home, volunteering your time, attending school events, and trusting us with your children each day. Your partnership plays a vital role in the success of our students and our school community.

As summer begins, I encourage all of our Bees to continue reading, exploring, creating, and enjoying time with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming students back in the fall for another year of learning and growth.

On behalf of the entire Herndon Elementary staff, thank you for a wonderful school year. We wish you and your family a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer.

With Gratitude,

Dr. Monika Vereb

Summer Learning
Resources for Families

Instructional Services is supporting student learning over the summer. Resources are being curated on the Summer Learning Resources Webpage for students and families to review and practice previously taught content throughout the summer months. Draft communications are available for schools to personalize to communicate with families.

Resources are organized by grade level and aligned to the learning students experienced during the school year. Families can access the materials at any time to review concepts, practice skills, or explore new ideas at home. One of the resources being provided to help students in Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 to develop keyboarding skills this summer is TypingClub, which will be accessible through Clever.

Additional resources will continue to be added throughout June.
