Summer Quest Week 1 Smiles All Around
Principal's Message
Dear Chesterbrook Families,
I hope your summer has been filled with opportunities to relax, spend quality time with family and friends, enjoy new adventures, and make lasting memories. Whether you've been traveling, playing, reading, or simply taking time to recharge, I hope these summer days have brought you joy and well-deserved rest.
Last week we kicked off our Summer Quest camps with smiles all around. I wanted to extend a huge thanks to Maddy Hamsher-King for her leadership of the program, organizing and planning for three packed weeks of fun and social engagement. During the summer, this has been a great way for our current students to reconnect and our upcoming kindergarteners a chance to work with teachers and gain a bit of experience being a chipmunk. Our summer quest staff are pouring lots of love and passion into our students engaging them in all the fun of summer camp. We are grateful to Franklin Sherman for hosting us while our building is undergoing HVAC work.
Superintendent's Family Vision Group: Each school in FCPS has two representatives that sit on a Family Vision Group with Dr. Reid. I am looking for an additional parent that would like to serve as a CES representative. The Superintendent's Family Vision Group serves as an important forum for elevating family voice, strengthening partnerships, and fostering meaningful engagement between families and FCPS leadership. Because representatives are expected to attend meetings consistently and substitutions are not permitted, having at least two designated representatives helps ensure continuity and sustained engagement throughout the year. Express interest by emailing me at Skirkpatrick@fcps.edu.

New Family Welcome Roundtable and Tours: I look forward to welcoming our new families. It has been wonderful to meet many of you already!
We will host two opportunities for new families to visit the school prior to our open house. RSVP here for one of our August events.

Order School Supply Kits: Our PTA works to support families with supply ordering for the upcoming year. Please make sure you do this sooner than later so we can ensure arrival for our opening week. Please look for more info below and don't miss this opportunity!

Student Testing Results
Parents will receive your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, you can view a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website. Most scores are available in SIS ParentVUE. Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families. Websites for each test provide report translations and help with understanding test results.

If you are interested in private tutoring this summer for your student, here is a list of Chesterbrook teachers offering private tutoring. Please note, this private tutoring is not run or managed by CES or FCPS, and is to be coordinated between the teacher and family.

Chesterbrook Summer Reading
Have a wonderful summer Chipmunks! We are down to 200 books still checked out and would love to get more of them back. If you find any school library books over the summer, you can drop them off at the school office.
We hope everyone will keep reading and check out the awesome reading programs run by the public library and Barnes and Noble! You can also print out the Chesterbrook Summer Reading Bingo Board and have your child bring it back to school in the fall for a small reward.

Summer Meals for Students
Starting Monday, June 22, no-cost meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis at the sites and times listed on the FCPS Summer Food Service Program webpage. Students must remain on site while eating their meals.
