Dear Lancer Families:
Student laptops were collected today during PE classes. If your student did not turn in these items today, you will be charged for missing items. Students will not be able to check out a laptop and charger next year until they have returned or paid for these items. If you have them at home, you can drop them off at our main office this week or during the summer. As a reminder, the last day of school will be a two hour early release day. Please ensure your student has a dismissal plan to be picked up two hours early as there are no after school activities. We also are not allowing backpacks at school on the final day. Students should bring home things they no longer need at school today and tomorrow.
As we close a successful school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the many accomplishments of our students and staff. I have created an end of year report to highlight some of our many successes. In this report, you can see that this year has been filled with academic growth, outstanding performances, athletic achievements, service projects, and countless moments of learning and discovery. Most importantly, our students demonstrated resilience, perseverance, and kindness as they navigated challenges and celebrated successes together. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and the positive contributions they have made to our school community.
Our success would not be possible without the support of our families. Thank you for your partnership, encouragement, and commitment throughout the year. Whether you volunteered your time, attended school events, supported learning at home, or simply cheered on your child each day, your involvement has made a meaningful difference. Together, we have created a school environment where students can learn, grow, and thrive.
As summer begins, I encourage everyone to take time to relax, recharge, and enjoy special moments with family and friends. We wish all of our students and families a safe, healthy, and enjoyable summer vacation. Thank you for a wonderful school year, and we look forward to welcoming our students back in the fall for another exciting year of learning and success.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Important Cellphone Update for Rising Ninth Graders: New Bell-to-Bell Policy Starts July 1
Under a new Virginia cellphone law (SB108) and the updated FCPS Cellphone Policy, high school students at FCPS will no longer be able to use cellphones and other smart devices during lunch time, starting July 1. This includes watches that serve a dual purpose, such as smart watches, as well as earbuds, headsets, smart glasses, and other items connected to the internet.
During the school day, including during lunch time, high school students will have to keep cellphones and other smart devices off and stored in a locker, backpack, pouch, purse, etc. This policy does not apply to school-issued devices. Visit the FCPS Cellphone Policy webpage for more information.
Student Testing Results Coming Soon
Through June, you will receive your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, you can view a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website.
Most scores are available in SIS ParentVUE. Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families.
Websites for each test provide report translations and help with understanding test results. Please contact our front office with any testing questions or for additional information about how our school and teachers use test results to support student success.
Support Your Child’s Success in SIS ParentVUE
Signing up for a SIS ParentVUE account helps you to support your child’s academic success! Caregivers can view important information like attendance, grades, progress reports, and assessment scores through ParentVUE.
Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same ParentVUE account. It is available online and as a mobile app for Apple and Android devices.
Need help creating a SIS ParentVue account? This video walks through the steps. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE.
If you already have an account, be sure your contact information is up to date. Parents/guardians can update their phone numbers or email addresses in the Parent/Guardian section. View additional details about ParentVUE.
Activate Your ParentVUE Account to Stay Connected
On Wednesday, July 29, FCPS families who haven't activated their ParentVUE account will receive an email with the subject “Fairfax County Public Schools ParentVUE Activation Letter.”
The email will include instructions to activate a ParentVUE account. If you don’t have an account and don’t receive the email, please check your spam folder or open a Parent Support Request. After July 29, families may also contact Ms. Isu Revelo, irevelo@fcps.edu, to request a printed activation letter or a new activation key, if needed.
All families are encouraged to activate their accounts as soon as possible to ensure they receive immediate access to important student information and school communications.
For assistance activating your account, please contact our front office. For technical support, create a Parent Support Request.
AFTER SCHOOL CORNER
Field Day
We are wrapping up the school year with our final big event: Field Day on Tuesday, June 16th!
We will be following a modified schedule for the day, starting with the lunch block from 10:15 AM to 12:15 PM. Afterward, the fun officially begins! 7th graders (wear white) will head out for their activities from 12:20 to 1:10 PM, followed immediately by the 8th graders (wear blue) from 1:20 to 2:10 PM.
Whether your student loves sports or just wants to hang out, there is something for everyone. Outdoor options include basketball, soccer, volleyball, lawn games, and musical chairs. For those who prefer to stay indoors, the cafeteria will be open for board games and yearbook signing. Let’s make it a fantastic final Tuesday!
After School Survey – Your Feedback Matters
The Middle School After-School Program office is conducting a survey of parents/guardians to assess the quality and impact of the program. Below is a link for a quick survey about the Middle School After-School Program. The survey should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Parent_26
Participating in the survey is voluntary. Individual responses will be kept confidential, and responses will be summarized at the school and division level.
The survey is an important component of the after-school program evaluation and is critical for future funding. The more responses we receive, the more valuable and reliable the data
Thank you for considering completing the survey and for your support of the MS after-school program. This survey will be open from June 8, 2026 through June 12, 2026.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Mark H. Emery at mhemery@fcps.edu.
You should exit the FCPS survey once the “Thank You for Completing this Survey” appears. The request to click on a second survey is not part of the Parent Survey. Thank you.
Year-End Wrap-Up
As the school year comes to a close, we want to extend a massive thank you to our incredible community for supporting the After-School Program. This year was a phenomenal success: we had 900 enrolled students, with more than 200 staying daily to explore and learn 38 different clubs and activities!
To the wonderful parents who volunteered their time and talents with our clubs—we could not have done this without you. Your support is what allows us to offer such a vibrant program for our students.
Wishing all of our families a safe, happy, and wonderful summer!
LONGFELLOW PTA
A Message from the Longfellow PTA
As we wrap up another school year, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to our outgoing PTA President, Beth Coyne, for her leadership, dedication, and countless hours of service to the Longfellow community. Beth has guided the PTA through three years of supporting students, staff, and families while helping to strengthen the partnership between home and school. We are deeply grateful for her commitment and the positive impact she has made on Longfellow.
We would also like to recognize Matt Loughran, who joined the PTA Board this year as Treasurer. Matt quickly became an invaluable member of the team, providing thoughtful financial stewardship and helping the Board navigate budgeting and fundraising challenges. We are grateful for his willingness to step into this important role and are delighted that he will continue serving as Treasurer next year.
We are also excited to welcome Aisha Williams as our incoming PTA President. Aisha brings tremendous enthusiasm, experience, and a strong commitment to supporting Longfellow students and staff. This summer, she will represent our PTA at the National PTA Convention, where she will have the opportunity to learn from PTA leaders across the country and bring back new ideas and best practices for our school community.
The PTA Board looks forward to working alongside Aisha, Matt, and our returning and new volunteers as we continue our mission of supporting excellence at Longfellow. Thank you to all of our volunteers, members, donors, teachers, staff, and families for your partnership throughout the year. We wish everyone a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing you in the fall!
