Roar Into the Week: Happy Summer!

Good Bye

Bailey’s Upper staff gave students a special send off on the last day of school, lining the sidewalks to wave goodbye as they headed off for summer break. We will miss our students, and we can't wait to welcome them back in August for another great year together!

Dear Bailey's Upper Families,

Thank you so much, families, for an amazing year! I am so proud of everyone. Our entire Bailey’s Upper community did a phenomenal job this year, and I could not be more grateful for all that we accomplished together.

I already miss the students and the energy they bring to our school each day. As we celebrate all that we achieved this year, I am also incredibly excited about what next year will bring. Thank you for your partnership, support, and commitment to our community.

As we move into summer, please note that our office hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each day. Additionally, the school office and phone lines will be closed to the community this Wednesday through Friday while roof work is being completed.

Have a wonderful summer, and I look forward to seeing everyone again soon! 💙💛

With pride and best wishes,

Mr Mills

Bailey’s Upper recently celebrated a truly special milestone as we honored Mr. Mills on his retirement after 26 years of dedicated service to Bailey’s. Mr. Mills began his journey at Bailey’s Primary and later became part of the founding staff when Bailey’s Upper first opened its doors.

Mr. Mills has been a beloved member of the Bailey’s community, and while he will be greatly missed, we are excited for him as he begins this next chapter. Thank you, Mr. Mills, for 26 years of service, kindness, and commitment to our students. We wish you a happy, healthy, and well-deserved retirement!

Provide Feedback on Secondary Mathematics Instructional Resource

Math Image

FCPS will adopt new mathematics instructional resources for Math 6 (middle school only) through Algebra 2 for the 2026-27 school year. A review committee composed of community members, administrators, and teachers met to review materials submitted by vendors. The public is invited to review and provide feedback on the proposed resource.

Access the proposed resource for middle school Math 6 through Algebra 2 in person or on the Mathematics Basal Resource webpage from Saturday, June 13, to Sunday, July 12. Those reviewing instructional materials will provide feedback through a digital form. All community feedback will be shared with the review committee and the Fairfax County School Board before a board vote in July.

Hard copies of instructional materials will be available for review at Willow Oaks Welcome Center, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you need to review materials outside of these hours, please email MathBasalReview@fcps.edu.

Calendar Survey Due June 22nd

Calendar Student Services

FCPS values your input as we plan future school calendars. On Friday, June 5, all caregivers and FCPS staff received an email from noreply@fcps.edu containing a unique link to complete the FCPS Calendar Survey.

If you have not had a chance to respond, please take a few minutes to share your priorities and perspectives by Monday, June 22, at 11:59 p.m.

Your individual responses will be kept confidential and will not be shared with school staff or used in any way that identifies you or your student. Only aggregate, summary-level results will be reported to the Fairfax County School Board.

If you do not receive a link to the survey or have technical difficulties completing the survey, please contact the FCPS Office of Research and Program Evaluation.
