Cedar Lane Community Message

A Message from Dr. Farrish

Dear Cedar Lane Staff and School Community,

It is with mixed emotions that I share some important news with you. I have accepted the position of Principal of Herndon High School and will be leaving my role as Principal of Cedar Lane School. While I am excited about this new opportunity, leaving Cedar Lane is not easy. Serving as your principal has been one of the greatest honors of my career. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working alongside an extraordinary staff, remarkable students, supportive families, and dedicated community partners who make Cedar Lane such a special place.

Together, we have celebrated achievements, navigated challenges, and remained steadfast in our commitment to ensuring every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their fullest potential. The resilience, compassion, and determination I have witnessed within this community inspire me every day and will remain with me throughout my career.

To our students, thank you for your joy, perseverance, and the lessons you have taught me. You are the heart of Cedar Lane, and I am continually inspired by your growth, accomplishments, and unique talents. To our families, thank you for your trust, partnership, and unwavering support. Your advocacy and collaboration have been essential to the success of our school community.

To our staff, thank you for your dedication, expertise, and commitment to students. It has been a privilege to learn from you, lead alongside you, and witness the incredible impact you make each day.

Although I will be beginning a new chapter at Herndon High School, Cedar Lane will FOEVER hold a special place in my heart. The relationships we have built and the memories we have shared are ones I will cherish forever. I leave with immense gratitude and confidence in the future of Cedar Lane School. I know this community will continue to thrive because of the extraordinary people who make it such a welcoming and supportive place for all. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey. I will miss you deeply, but I will always be a part of the Cedar Lane family.

Dr. Choice, Region 1 Assistant Superintendent,  will work diligently to ensure that Cedar continues its path of excellence under highly capable leadership. In the coming weeks, the Region Office and the FCPS Human Resources Department will begin the principal selection process. Dr. Choice will be in touch to share next steps and outline opportunities for parents, community members, and staff to learn more about the process and provide input on the skills, experience, and leadership characteristics needed for our school.

Love,

                                                                                                                     Cheronda
