Hello Bull Run Families,
Next week is our final three days of the 2025-2026 school year. We have learned a lot, had fun, and made memories together. It's hard to believe, but it has been a great school year and we have all earned a well-deserved summer break. We're not done yet though!
Tomorrow we will be promoting our 6th grade class as they end their educational journeys with us, and will be heading off to Middle School. Next week we will say our farewells to each other, and end the year the way we want to start the next one.
I will send one more newsletter next week with some final data reports, summer events for planning purposes, and a final end of year message to our community.
Reminders:
Next Wednesday, June 17, is the last day of school and it will be a 2-hour early release. Students and staff are encouraged to participate in one final spirit day, wearing bull run colors or spirit wear.
Have a wonderful weekend!
-Mr. Marotta

This week we welcomed back our former Bulls as they walked the halls one final time, as they graduate from high school and move on to the next chapter of their lives.
|
Seniors from both Westfield High School and Centreville High School paraded through the school, saw their former teachers and classmates, and reminisced about their time at Bull Run!
|
We are incredibly proud to celebrate several of our multilingual learners who have officially met their English language proficiency goals! Thanks to their hard work, dedication, and the support of our amazing staff, these students have successfully transitioned out of language support services.
Please join us in congratulating them on this fantastic milestone!

BENCHMARK UPDATE
Finishing Up Our Exploration of the Earth in Language Arts
Benchmark Unit 8 in Language Arts is coming to a close! Over the last several weeks, our students have learned, read, and written about our earth and how it shapes our lives.
Connect with your child’s learning at school with these fun questions and hands-on activities at home:
- Question: What’s the most interesting fact you learned about the earth from this unit?
- Activity: Check the temperature outside at different times of the day. Graph the changes and talk about how the sun affects temperature throughout the day.
At the end of the unit, your child will take their unit magazine home. The magazine includes an activity calendar with fun ways to help students build on what they’re learning at each grade level. You can also find information on how to support your child’s reading at home on the Benchmark Families website.

Recognizing BRES staff who go above and beyond
The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for families, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees at Bull Run Elementary. We love our staff members; let's tell them how we feel!
|
FCPS values your input as we plan future school calendars. This past week, all caregivers and FCPS staff will receive an email from noreply@fcps.edu containing a unique link to complete the FCPS Calendar Survey.
Your feedback matters. Please take a few minutes to share your priorities and perspectives by Monday, June 22, at 11:59 p.m.
Your individual responses will be kept confidential and will not be shared with school staff or used in any way that identifies you or your student. Only aggregate, summary-level results will be reported to the Fairfax County School Board.
If you do not receive a link to the survey or have technical difficulties completing the survey, please contact the FCPS Office of Research and Program Evaluation.
Student Testing Results Coming Soon
Through June, you will receive your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, you can view a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website.
Most scores are available in SIS ParentVUE. Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families.
Websites for each test provide report translations and help with understanding test results. Please contact our front office with any testing questions or for additional information about how our school and teachers use test results to support student success.
Summer 2026 Inspire Immunization Events for All FCPS Students
Inspire Health Alliance, in partnership with FCPS, will be providing school-required immunizations during Summer 2026. Immunizations will be provided at no out-of-pocket cost to students or families. Registering families will be required to provide insurance information, if applicable, but students without insurance may still participate.
Summer 2026 event dates are available on our FCPS and Inspire Health Alliance Student Immunization Events | Fairfax County Public Schools webpage.
Additional event dates will be made available throughout the upcoming school year, 4 - 5 weeks before the event, on the public webpage.
Additional immunization resources are also available.
FCPS Summer Meal Service Program 2026
Fairfax County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services will continue providing summer meals to support children and families when school is not in session. Free meals are available to all children and teens 18 years of age and younger at designated FCPS summer meal sites, regardless of income or school enrollment. Meals are served onsite at participating locations from the Monday after school lets out through the Friday before the new school year begins.
New for 2026:
Educate Fairfax will fund meals for all adults at all FCPS open feeding sites, allowing families to dine together at participating locations.

Support Your Child’s Success in SIS ParentVUE
Signing up for a SIS ParentVUE account helps you to support your child’s academic success! Caregivers can view important information like attendance, grades, progress reports, and assessment scores through ParentVUE.
Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same ParentVUE account. It is available online and as a mobile app for Apple and Android devices.
Need help creating a SIS ParentVue account? This video walks through the steps. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE.
If you already have an account, be sure your contact information is up to date. Parents/guardians can update their phone numbers or email addresses in the Parent/Guardian section. View additional details about ParentVUE.
Activate Your ParentVUE Account to Stay Connected
On Wednesday, July 29, FCPS families who haven't activated their ParentVUE account will receive an email with the subject “Fairfax County Public Schools ParentVUE Activation Letter.”
The email will include instructions to activate a ParentVUE account. If you don’t have an account and don’t receive the email, please check your spam folder or open a Parent Support Request.
Varsity Tutors Provides On-Demand Support at No Cost
FCPS is partnering with Varsity Tutors to provide students and families with extra resources for learning. Every student can take advantage of Varsity Tutors’ services at no cost, including weekly live online classes, on-demand 24/7 chat tutoring, essay editing, and study resources such as recorded content, practice problems, and diagnostic tests. Learn more about online tutoring with Varsity Tutors.
Tutoring Resources for Families
Some families may be looking for additional resources to help support their child’s academic success. The FCPS Family Resource Center (FRC) maintains a list of FCPS employees who hold a valid Virginia teaching credential and who are available to hire as tutors. This list is a resource offered by the FRC, but families are responsible for contacting and working directly with the tutors. This list is not approved by FCPS and is only meant to be a resource to families.
