A World Cup Field Day Full of Healthy Competition
 Principal's Message
Dear Chesterbrook Families,
We had the pleasure of welcoming back our High School seniors as they celebrated their graduation. It was amazing to see the excitement on our student's faces as they welcomed our former Chesterbrook Chipmunks and cheered them on with high fives and chants. It was a joy to spend time with these graduates afterwards enjoying Kona Ice on our front lawn, as they were our Chesterbrook Covid 6th graders that missed their promotion activities. Tuesday we celebrated their graduation at DAR in Washington DC.
Thank you to everyone that came out to our family fun night on Tuesday evening with ice cream and the Brain Show. It was a beautiful evening watching the kids play before our families competed in rounds of trivia. A huge shoutout goes to our PTA for their continued support to bring The Brain Show back each year for our day time assembly and family fun night. This year's additional ice cream social was funded with a grant provided by the Fairfax250 Commission.
As we congratulate our 6th grade students on their promotion, we will clap-out of students on Wednesday during early release at 1:35. 6th grade parents are welcome to come clap your students on the front sidewalks of the school at 1:20 on Wednesday afternoon. We love to have you to celebrate your children. Please refrain from bringing confetti, silly string or other items that would make a mess. Once we release we do ask you to quickly clear the walkways so we can release our other students to buses and staff will wave the buses off.
Staffing Updates
Each year as we close out, we also say good-bye to a few staff that are transitioning away from our Chesterbrook family. I want to thank them for bringing their talents to our Chesterbrook community and wishing them well.

Help me say good-bye to these wonderful educators as they have truly made an impact on our school community. I can also share that we are fully staffed for the upcoming school year.

Yearbook Sale
We have a few yearbooks for sale if your child did not purchase. They are $20. Students may bring cash to Mrs. Flores in the office to purchase a yearbook this week.
Recorder Recycle Program
Chesterbrook's 3rd grade Girl Scout troop is collecting recorders for a Title 1 elementary school in DC. They are in need of used recorders that are no longer being used by families. If you would like to donate, please drop off recorders in the collection box in the front office. Thank you for your support of our Girls Scouts and their community service efforts!
Student Testing Results
Through June, you will receive your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, you can view a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website. Most scores are available in SIS ParentVUE. Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families. Websites for each test provide report translations and help with understanding test results.
School Supply Kit Orders
Time to Order Supply Kits for next school year! School wide we will be rolling out executive functioning work and have specific requirements to help students better develop organizational skills. The supplies they purchase will be a big part of developing this skillset and keeping our classrooms organized.

Volunteers to Help with Moving Supplies
We are in need of a couple parent volunteers that may be able to help transport our summer quest supplies to Franklin Sherman at the very end of this school year. Do you have a large vehicle and perhaps a teen or two that may like to help move supplies and earn service hours? We would be grateful for the help! Bike and Roll to School Days in 2026 - 27
We have some great initiatives next year including many more days we are working to encourage healthy and safe biking habits across our school community. As you are considering if your child may be ready to ride to school and if you will be purchasing a bike, please consider some facts about ebikes. As these bikes are gaining popularity, so are the concerns around safety around pedestrians. We are stressing that traditional bicycles are the safest and encouraged mode of transportation for arrival and dismissal, allowing students to more easily maneuver sidewalks with pedestrians.
If you are considering an e-bike or e-scooter for your child, please consider the following information. There are different models of bikes or e-motor bikes. Bikes powered by larger motors that have higher speeds will not be permitted to be ridden to school. Did you know these facts about ebikes?
- E-bikes/e-scooters used for transportation are generally permitted, particularly when they are used like bicycles and operated safely.
- Devices being operated in a reckless manner, at unsafe speeds, or in ways that endanger students or damage property can and should be addressed under the SR&R.
- Passenger riding is not appropriate and should be stopped immediately, as it creates a clear safety concern regardless of device type.
- Use of fields, playgrounds, or other school grounds for riding are not be permitted.
- Many of the devices being seen (including higher-powered e-bikes with speeds in excess of 20 mph) may function more like motorized vehicles in practice, even if they are marketed as e-bikes, which increases risk in crowded school environments (arrival & dismissal). THESE are NOT allowed and are rated for ages 14+.

Updated Cellphone Policy Starts July 1
Senate Bill 108 is a new Virginia law that goes into effect on July 1 and states that all schools in the state must follow a "bell-to-bell" phone-free policy. The updated FCPS Cellphone Policy aligns with this new law.
This means that starting July 1, across all grade levels at FCPS, cellphones, phone accessories, and all smart devices must be off and personally stored (i.e., put away in backpacks) for the duration of the school day — bell to bell.
Smart devices include watches that serve a dual purpose, such as smartwatches, as well as earbuds, headsets, smart glasses, and other items connected to the internet. This policy does not apply to school-issued devices.
