Dear Navy Elementary Families,
My heart is absolutely bursting with pride as I write this newsletter. Today, we celebrated our incredible 6th-grade students during their promotion ceremony, and it was a truly spectacular event. To see our oldest students walk across the stage, ready to take on the world of middle school, was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do every single day.
Our 6th graders have shown us what it truly means to lead with heart. Throughout their time at Navy, and especially in this final year, they have consistently chosen kindness over conflict and courage over comfort.
They have been mentors to students, champions for one another, and a constant source of positivity in our hallways.
They have tackled academic challenges, stepped out of their comfort zones, and embraced growth with open minds.
I am proud of the individuals they are becoming. They are not just academically prepared for the next chapter; they are fundamentally good human beings.
If the promotion ceremony taught us anything, itâs that working together as a community, we can accomplish anything.
An event this beautiful doesn't happen in a vacuum. It was the result of a powerful partnership between our dedicated teachers, our hard-working staff, and our phenomenal Navy parents. From decorating the auditorium to supporting our students through every late-night study session and emotional milestone, your collaboration is what makes Navy Elementary so special.
"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." This community is living proof of that truth. Thank you for locking arms with us to give our 6th graders the send-off they deserve.
To our departing 6th graders: Remember that you will always have a home here at Navy ES. Carry your kindness as your shield and your courage as your compass. We cannot wait to see how you change the world!
To the rest of our Navy family, thank you for an unforgettable school year.Â
Warmest regards,
Jason, Kim, and Sarah

Dear Parent or Guardian:
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student
If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).
If you have any questions, please contact your school health room aide, Kristina Mirlas, at 703.262.7110, or your school public health nurse, Kelly Pandey, at 571.373.0799.
Thank you for your cooperation and have a good summer.

FCPS values your input as we plan future school calendars. On Friday, June 5, all caregivers and FCPS staff will receive an email from noreply@fcps.edu containing a unique link to complete the FCPS Calendar Survey.
Your feedback matters. Please take a few minutes to share your priorities and perspectives by Monday, June 22, at 11:59 p.m.
Your individual responses will be kept confidential and will not be shared with school staff or used in any way that identifies you or your student. Only aggregate, summary-level results will be reported to the Fairfax County School Board.
If you do not receive a link to the survey or have technical difficulties completing the survey, please contact the FCPS Office of Research and Program Evaluation.
Through June, you will receive your childâs spring assessment results. If you arenât sure what assessments your child took this year, you can view a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website.Â
Most scores are available in SIS ParentVUE. Visit FCPSâ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families.Â
Websites for each test provide report translations and help with understanding test results. Please contact our front office with any testing questions or for additional information about how our school and teachers use test results to support student success.
The Fairfax County Police Department encourages teens and parents to stay informed, have open conversations about digital safety, and practice smart online habits throughout the summer months. Read recommendations to stay safe online this summer.
FCPS will continue with limited early release Wednesdays for elementary schools during the 2026-27 school year. The number has been reduced from eight to four days.Â
Early release Wednesdays provide elementary teachers with a dedicated block of time to prepare lessons, participate in professional development and training, and collaborate with their peers. A well-supported and continuously improving teaching staff leads to better educational outcomes for students.Â
