Chromebook collection

All students need to return their school-issued laptops to receive some important updates. We need all computers and chargers to be returned, regardless of the condition. Underclass Chromebook return is at the following dates and times:

  • Friday, June 12 and Tuesday, June 16: during lunch (by main office)
  • Wednesday, June 17 (underclass deadline): underclass students may return by the main office 7:30-11 am; if returning during the school day, students must have a pass from their teacher

Full details are on this handout; there is a form students can complete for students taking a summer class who would like to keep their Chromebook.

Attendance Reminders

As we approach the final stretch of the school year, we want to take a moment to highlight something that has a powerful impact on student success: consistent school attendance.

More information about Oakton Attendance Reminders is found on the Oakton website under announcements

We want to ensure that the testing environment is as secure and quiet as possible for all students as they are testing. To support this, we are asking that students remain in their classrooms bell to bell and not leave unless necessary.

Yearbooks are sold out for this year! If you need to pick up your yearbook, they can be picked up during lunches or in room 1829 before and after school.

Parking Applications for the 2026-2027 School Year are Available!

Summer 2026 Courses

The deadline to register for Summer 2026 Online Campus courses was Friday, June 6, 2025. Courses are open to middle and high school students who meet prerequisites.

Courses may be cancelled if they are under-enrolled. If a course is cancelled, students will be notified using the registration contact information and a full refund will be given.

The deadline to register for Summer 2026 Credit Recovery course is Monday, June 22. Please work with your student’s counselor to discuss options.

For other summer learning opportunities, please visit Summer Learning at FCPS website.

Tutoring Resources for Families

Some families may be looking for additional resources to help support their child’s academic success. The FCPS Family Resource Center (FRC) maintains a list of FCPS employees who hold a valid Virginia teaching credential and who are available to hire as tutors. This list is a resource offered by the FRC, but families are responsible for contacting and working directly with the tutors. This list is not approved by FCPS and is only meant to be a resource to families.

FCPS also partners with Varsity Tutors to provide students and families with extra resources for learning. Every student can take advantage of Varsity Tutors' services, at no cost, including weekly live online classes, on-demand 24/7 chat tutoring, essay editing, and study resources such as recorded content, practice problems, and diagnostic tests.

Class Schedule Change Requests

Timeline for Schedule Changes

  • April 7 - June 17: There will not be any schedule changes, regardless of space availability.  This date aligns with the last day of the 3rd Quarter.

For any questions you may have, contact your child’s school counselor.
