Your Story Starts Here
Our students’ learning momentum continues in this last full week of school. Kings Park continues to value strong academics and engaging instruction as we make the most of every learning opportunity through the end of the year.
Student learning was highlighted during last week’s Kindergarten Parade and our 3rd graders’ Portrait of a Graduate Presentation of Learning (POG POL). Both events showcased students taking age-appropriate ownership of their learning while demonstrating confidence, growth, and pride in their accomplishments. Thanks to the amazing Kings Park community for showing up in force to celebrate these memorable milestones with our students. All of our students should be proud of their progress this year.
As we finish the year strong, we are looking forward to fun and sun-filled Field Days this week. Please be sure to review the information below for updated information and reminders. Lastly, thank you for helping your Lion finish the year strong by arriving on time each day.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Dotty Lin, Mrs. Jenn Burke and Mrs. Anna Kaplan

Field Day Updates
Field Day Weather Considerations
We are excited for our upcoming Field Day events this week, and at this time all events remain scheduled as planned. However, we are closely monitoring the forecast and are aware of potential weather challenges, including excessive heat, that could require adjustments to our afternoon Field Day schedules. Thankfully rain does not seem to be an issue at this time.
Please note these slated make-up times have been shifted to the morning, as similar weather concerns may also affect Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

We are sharing the alternate times that would be used if afternoon events need to be rescheduled so that families and volunteers have as much notice as possible should a schedule change become necessary. Please note that while we hope to make any decisions early and communicate them promptly, weather conditions may require a final decision to be made on the day of the event.
If events are rescheduled and you are a signed up to be a parent volunteer for your child's class, please watch for an email from Mrs. Beavers or Mrs. Belcher with additional information.
Last Day of School
Tuesday, June 16th is the last day of school for preschool students.
Wednesday, June 17th is the last day of school and a 2-hour early release for students in grades K-3. All students will dismiss at 1:20pm.

Changes to PAC Early Release Days
Starting August 24, 2026, early release days for PAC students will shift to Tuesdays and Thursdays (previously Mondays and Wednesdays).
Next Steps for Families:
We know how important routines and scheduling are for our families. Please take some time this summer to:
- Update Childcare: Adjust any afternoon childcare or after-school plans.
- Coordinate Transportation: Update any private transportation arrangements for Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Questions?
We’re here to support you through this transition. If you have questions or need assistance with planning, please reach out to your child’s teacher or the school’s main office.
📚 Finishing Up Our Exploration of the Earth in Language Arts 📚
Benchmark Unit 8 in Language Arts is coming to a close! Over the last several weeks, our students have learned, read, and written about our earth and how it shapes our lives.
Connect with your child’s learning at school with these fun questions and hands-on activities at home:
- Question: What’s the most interesting fact you learned about the earth from this unit?
- Activity: Check the temperature outside at different times of the day. Graph the changes and talk about how the sun affects temperature throughout the day.
At the end of the unit, your child will take their unit magazine home. The magazine includes an activity calendar with fun ways to help students build on what they’re learning at each grade level. You can also find information on how to support your child’s reading at home on the Benchmark Families website.

Calendar Survey
FCPS values your input as we plan future school calendars. On Friday, June 5, all caregivers and FCPS staff will receive an email from noreply@fcps.edu containing a unique link to complete the FCPS Calendar Survey.
Your feedback matters. Please take a few minutes to share your priorities and perspectives by Monday, June 22, at 11:59 p.m.
Your individual responses will be kept confidential and will not be shared with school staff or used in any way that identifies you or your student. Only aggregate, summary-level results will be reported to the Fairfax County School Board.
If you do not receive a link to the survey or have technical difficulties completing the survey, please contact the FCPS Office of Research and Program Evaluation.
