Check out what is happening at Orange Hunt:
What a splash-tastic reward! Thanks to the incredible support of our Orange Hunt families, we met our Boosterthon fundraising goal and celebrated with some Water Fun. The fire truck was a huge hit, and students in grades K–6 had a blast cooling off, laughing, and enjoying time together. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the generosity of our community and the hard work of our students!
Summer Reading at Orange Hunt
Summer reading is an important way to help prevent the "summer slide" and keep students engaged in learning during the break. There are several opportunities available this summer to encourage students to read for 20–30 minutes each day.
Tomorrow, the Pohick librarians visit our school to meet with students and share information about the Fairfax County Public Library Summer Reading Adventure, which families can access here.
Students may also choose to participate in the Orange Hunt Summer Reading Program, which celebrates America's 250th Anniversary with fun reading challenges. We encourage all our students to make reading part of their summer routine and enjoy exploring new books all season long! Printable version here (flyers will come home with students as well).
Read to celebrate America's 250th birthday! Complete at least four activities and turn it into your teacher by August 28th for a water bottle reading sticker. you can also complete this online form by August 28th http://tinyurl.com/OHESread
Medication Pickup from Health Room
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Dismissal time is 1:30 p.m. on June 17th.
- Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed.
- It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian.
- Medication cannot be sent home with your student.
If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on the first day of the summer program.
Medication authorization forms for next school year may be obtained from the school or online at https://www.fcps.edu/resources/student-safety-and-wellness/school-health-services.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Kimber Tritten, RN at katritten@fcps.edu.

Student Device Collection
All FCPS student devices will be collected prior to the end of the school year for inventory and repair over the summer in preparation for the 2026-27 school year. Collection will take place during the school day on Monday, June 15. All devices will be scanned into our system upon return, and you will receive a return receipt to your child’s FCPS Gmail account.
Students participating in an FCPS sponsored summer program that requires an FCPS device (ex: CTE) will take their current FCPS/OHES issued device and power supply home with them on the last day of school. Parents/Guardians are responsible for transporting the student’s FCPS device to their respective FCPS summer program location. New Cell Phone Policy Starts July 1 - VA Law
On Thursday, May 7, the Fairfax County School Board approved changes to FCPS’ Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R). The approved changes include updated guidance for cell phone possession and use, in order to align FCPS’ cell phone policy with Senate Bill 108. This new Virginia law goes into effect on July 1, 2026 and states that all schools must follow a “bell-to-bell” phone-free policy.
This means that starting July 1, 2026, across all grade levels at FCPS, cell phones, phone accessories, and all smart devices (including watches that serve a dual purpose, such as smart watches, as well as airpods, earbuds, headsets, smart glasses, and other other items connected to the internet) must be off and personally stored (i.e., put away in backpacks) for the duration of the school day – thus, no cell phones from bell to bell. Students will not use cell phones or smart devices as listed above at all More details are available on FCPS’ Cell Phone Policy webpage.
Lady Spartan Basketball Camp, July 13-17. $244. Register here.
