As the 2025–26 school year comes to a close, we celebrate another wonderful year of growth, achievement, and proud moments at SVES. Together, our students have challenged themselves, discovered new interests, built lasting friendships, and found success both inside and outside the classroom. None of this would be possible without you. Thank you, families, for your partnership this year.
We wish all of our students and families a relaxing and well-deserved summer break. We hope you take this time to recharge and make wonderful memories, and we look forward to welcoming you back in August!
This will be our final Sunrise Valley Newsletter for the year. Any additional updates or important announcements will be shared as needed.
Enjoy our final SVTV Weekly Report!

Summer is a wonderful time to keep learning in fun and meaningful ways. We encourage families to prioritize screen-free activities such as reading books from the library, keeping a journal, writing postcards or letters to friends and family, exploring nature through scavenger hunts, visiting local parks and museums, cooking together, or simply spending time observing and learning about the world around them. While hands-on experiences are often the most memorable, there can also be opportunities for supervised online learning and exploration. Students might enjoy reading eBooks, researching a topic of interest, creating a presentation about a favorite hobby, learning a new skill, or exploring educational websites with a parent or caregiver. However they choose to learn, we hope our students stay curious, creative, and engaged throughout the summer months.
Additionally, FCPS has curated a list of digital and print resources available for students and families to review and practice over the summer. Check out the Summer Learning Resources webpage for this inforamtion.
If your student will need access to their FCPS laptop over the summer, please complete this Google Form. We will ensure the laptop is sent home with them on the last day of school. Please remind students that they are expected to follow the Student Rights and Responsibilities outlined in the FCPS Acceptable Use Policy when using their FCPS-issued laptop and accessing FCPS programs and resources.
Get a head start on the 2026-27 school year by pre-purchasing your child’s school supplies!
Your child’s teacher has identified the personal and community school supplies needed for a successful year. In cooperation with the Sunrise Valley PTA, Campus Survival Kits has assembled a Kit of all necessary supplies for one low price!
All kit prices include a 5% donation to the SVES PTA.
Our current treasurer has reached the end of her term limit (thank you, Rachel Claremon!), so we're looking for someone new to serve in this required position - we cannot have a PTA (or any PTA-sponsored events or programs!) without a treasurer.
-
What's involved? Oversee the budget, monitor monthly spending and revenue, issue reimbursements.
-
What expertise is required? Comfortable with spreadsheets and numbers, but you don't need to be a finance whiz. We use software that does the heavy lifting for you.
-
Time commitment? Do this job completely on your own schedule, from home.
-
Do I need to come to meetings? Ideally, you'd present the monthly financials, but the President can do this if it's an issue.
-
When would it start? A few hours this summer, so you can be part of the annual audit and budget-setting process. Our current treasurer will train you.
Contact our outgoing treasurer, Rachel Claremon, to learn more or sign up.

This year, thanks to generous support from Educate Fairfax, families may also receive one no-cost breakfast and lunch per adult at the following eligible sites:
- Braddock Elementary School
- Dogwood Elementary School
- Glen Forest Elementary School
- Hutchison Elementary School
- Hybla Valley Elementary School

Students must consume meals on-site. Additional sites will be added throughout the summer. Check the Food and Nutrition Services website for updates on specific dates, times, and locations.
