Message from Mrs. Castillo

Principal and AP for the Day

Lemon Road had another awesome week of school.  On Monday, Ms. Ulsh and I spent the day with our Principal and Assistant Principal for the Day (Ms. Watson & Mr. Hawkins).  Thank you to all our families who continue to support our PTA.  These students won the Roaring Raffle at the Spring Fair and learned how to make announcements, run a fire drill, help in the school health room, met a school board member, and left notes for teachers after visiting their classrooms!

On Monday, we welcomed, Robyn Lady, Dranesville School Board Representative who came to Lemon Road to visit Mrs. Caccavale's Sixth Grade Algebra 1 Honors class.  Like Dr. Reid, she complimented their commitment to learning and willingness to take on this challenge.  She also celebrated their outstanding results on the Algebra 1 SOL.  Thank you for the visit Ms. Lady!

Ms. Burke welcomed guests from the Tysons-Pimmit Library to share with our students the summer reading programs at the public library.  All families are encouraged to visit the public library and access the free and exciting programs for children and families!

Sixth Grade Day was a huge success on Friday.  Thank you to all our parents and guardians who made donations and volunteered throughout the day.  We also appreciate our PTA for covering the main expenses for the day so all students can participate.  The 6th graders certainly ate and played hard as they celebrated their last few weeks together before heading to middle school.

We closed out the week with one of our favorite annual end of school year traditions, the Grad Walk where former lions who are graduating from high school returned to Lemon Road to walk through the hallway in their cap and gowns and gathered together one last time in the cafeteria. They answered questions about high school and beyond for our 6th graders and got to re-connect with some of their old teachers. Best of luck Class of 2026!

Field Day Friday

Field Day Photo

Field Day is Friday!  It is also Skittles Day.  Thank you to all parents who have signed up to volunteer.  There are still a few more spots.  Each grade level has been assigned a specific color shirt to wear (over their bathing suit).

Skittles Day Colors:

  • Kindergarten: Red
  • Grade 1: Orange
  • Grade 2: Yellow
  • Grade 3:  Green (tie-dyed shirts made Friday)
  • Grade 4: Blue
  • Grade 5: Purple
  • Grade 6: 6th Grade Shirt (light blue)

Our kindergarten - third graders will participate in the morning and should arrive to school with their bathing suit, shoes that can get wet, sunscreen, and a hat on.  They should bring a towel and complete change of clothes and shoes for the afternoon.  Our fourth - sixth graders will participate in the afternoon.  They should wear their assigned colored shirt, but can bring all needed items for field day.  Students will have time to change before field day and again before heading home in the afternoon.  It is helpful for all students to bring a drawstring bag to carry with them to field day events with their towel, water bottle, hat, and extra sunscreen.  Please label everything you send!

As a reminder, students do not eat lunch in the cafeteria on field day.  Anyone who pre-ordered a lunch will have it delivered to the classroom.  If your child did not order a lunch through the cafeteria, they should pack their lunch for the day.
