Dear 5th Grade Students and Families,

Congratulations to our incredible 5th Grade Class on your promotion!

Over the past six years, you have worked hard, grown tremendously, overcome challenges, built friendships, and created lasting memories. We are so proud of all that you have accomplished during your elementary school journey, and we know you are ready for the exciting adventure that awaits you in middle school.

As you take this next step, you will find yourself with more independence and more opportunities to make choices. Thos         e choices will help shape the person you continue to become. We encourage you to be kind, work hard, stay curious, and always believe in yourself. The skills, confidence, and character you have developed at Bailey's Upper will serve you well as you move forward.

We know that each of you is capable of amazing things, and we cannot wait to see all that you accomplish in the years ahead. Whether you become artists, scientists, teachers, athletes, leaders, or something we have not even imagined yet, we know you will continue to make a positive difference in the world.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the families who joined us for Friday's promotion ceremony. It was wonderful to see so many parents, family members, and loved ones there to celebrate this special milestone. Your support, encouragement, and partnership have been an important part of your child's success.

Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us. It has been our privilege to be part of their elementary school journey.

To our fifth graders: good luck in middle school! We are cheering for you every step of the way. Remember once a tiger ALWAYS a tiger, so be sure to come back and visit us. We can't wait to hear about all of your future successes.

Early Release Wednesdays for 2026-27

FCPS will continue with limited early release Wednesdays for elementary schools during the 2026-27 school year. The number has been reduced from eight to four days.

Early release Wednesdays provide elementary teachers with a dedicated block of time to prepare lessons, participate in professional development and training, and collaborate with their peers. A well-supported and continuously improving teaching staff leads to better educational outcomes for students.
