Assistant Principal Gilley and the 6th graders at the Sixth Grade Promotion
A Message from Principal Crews
Dear Hornet Family,
I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent 6th grade promotion and the End of Year Family Picnic. It was incredible to listen to our 6th graders speeches and see the growth they have made through the years. At the indoor picnic on Friday we began celebrating the 250th birthday of our country and what better way to do it than with families from our school community!
These last couple of weeks our school has been filled with so many happy Hornets and evidence of student learning. Students are so proud to show their families their learning whether it is at a concert, a promotion ceremony or at a Hornet of the Month presentation. Your presence and support mean the world to our staff and students.
As we head into the final days of the school year, we have other milestones to celebrate. Please keep an eye out for final details regarding our upcoming promotion next week:
-
Kindergarten Promotion, June 15 at 9:15am: Celebrating our youngest learners as they take their next big step!
- June Hornet of the Month, June 16 at 8:15am
Please keep in mind that the final day of school is Wednesday, June 17, and it will be a 2-hour early release day with dismissal so school ends at 1:05pm. Please ensure you have childcare and transportation arrangements lined up for the earlier dismissal.
Thank you for partnering with us to make this year so special. Let’s finish this week strong!
Sincerely,
Jasibi Crews, Principal

How You Can Participate:
- Answer our quick questionnaire: Click the link below to answer up to four questions about this upcoming celebration. All responses will be included anonymously in the display. 👉 Click Here for the Google Form You do not need to sign into Google to complete.
- Share a photo: We would be honored to include a current family photo or a photo of an ancestor. Please note: We can only accept digital photos, and they will not be returned.
Alternative Ways to Submit:
If you prefer not to use the Google Form, or if you are sending a digital photo, please email it to kdtucker@fcps.edu with the subject line USA 250. A Talking Points message is also acceptable.

Register to Attend the End of the Year Student Awards Assemblies and Kindergarten Promotion
All FCPS schools use the Raptor Visitor Management System (VMS). This system is part of FCPS’ ongoing commitment to layered school safety and streamlining the process for visitors at our schools. The VMS ensures that no school visitor is on the sex offender registry.
The user experience will generally remain the same. Visitors will check in at the front office and scan their ID.
Visitors who choose to download the RaptorSafe App and create a Raptor Passport can pre-verify their information before they get to school to speed up their check-in process. The app will give you a QR code you can use to check in.
You may use the links below to register to attend the following events. You will be asked to provide personal information and to verify your identity by downloading the RaptorSafe app.

Testing Results
Student Testing Results Coming Soon
Through June, you will receive your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, you can view a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website.
Most scores are available in SIS ParentVUE. Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families.
Websites for each test provide report translations and help with understanding test results. Please contact our front office with any testing questions or for additional information about how our school and teachers use test results to support student success.
