Early Release Wednesdays for 2026-27
FCPS will continue with limited early release Wednesdays for elementary schools during the 2026-27 school year. The number has been reduced from eight to four days.
Early release Wednesdays provide elementary teachers with a dedicated block of time to prepare lessons, participate in professional development and training, and collaborate with their peers. A well-supported and continuously improving teaching staff leads to better educational outcomes for students.

Last chance to claim Lost & Found items
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of the school year, we would like to remind families to check our Lost and Found in the Cafeteria for any items that may belong to their child. Over the course of the year, many jackets, sweaters, lunch boxes, water bottles, and other personal belongings have accumulated.
Please stop by and claim your item by Tuesday June 16th. Any unclaimed items remaining after this date will be donated. To assist families, we have attached some photos of the items currently in Lost and Found in case you recognize anything belonging to your child.
Thank you for your support in helping us return these belongings to their owners before the school year ends.

End of Year Medication Notification
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than 2:00 pm on June 17. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. Earlier pickup of medications is encouraged during health room hours: M-F, 09:00am-4:00pm. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).

Join the FCPS Family Vision Group (FVG) to
Represent Greenbriar West Families!
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) invites family members and caregivers from each school to participate in the Superintendent’s Family Vision Group (FVG) — a forum that connects families directly with FCPS leadership.
The group meets about six times per year (6:00–7:30 PM) to share family perspectives, provide input on division initiatives, and strengthen partnerships between schools and families. Each school selects 1–2 representatives to serve for the school year. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with Superintendent, Dr. Michelle Reid, and to ensure that the voices of our families are heard and considered in discussions that help shape the future of our schools.
