Dear KJMS Families,
Congratulations to the Fairfax High School Class of 2026! It was wonderful to welcome our graduates back to Katherine Johnson Middle School for one final walk through our halls during the annual Grad Walk. Seeing our former students return to celebrate this milestone was a special moment for our entire school community. You can checkout the video on Instagram -FHS Grad Walk 2026
We also look forward to celebrating our current students during our 7th and 8th Grade Awards Ceremonies on Monday, June 15. Families of students receiving awards were sent email invitations this past week.
Congratulations as well to our KJMS Track Team for finishing the season strong at last Saturday’s championship meet. We are proud of the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of all our student-athletes throughout the season.
If you have any questions or concerns you can contact our main office at 703-934-2400 or contact me directly at cmsmith@fcps.edu.
Enjoy your weekend!
Chris Smith

Does your student need to use their KJMS laptop for a summer program? Fill out this form to let us know! If so, your student will not need to turn in the laptop during the last week of school.
The laptop and school issued charger must be returned to the KJMS Main Office once their summer program is complete, no later than Monday, August 3rd.
Any questions, please email KJMSTechOffice@fcps.edu.
If your student will be transferring to another school next year, please take a moment to complete the SY 2026-2027 Student Intention Form and email it to Ms. Holmes, our Registrar, at aholmes@fcps.edu.
If your child will be returning to our school or attending one of our feeder high schools as planned, there’s nothing you need to do—no form is required.
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room, please picked up by the end of the school day Wednesday June 17th (early release).
We have emergency albuterol and epinephrine in the clinic if needed, if you’re able to please schedule with smjohnson@fcps.edu or rbasile@fcps.edu so we can have paperwork ready.
Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student. If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school before dismissal. Unfortunately, we must discard any medications left behind after June 17th.
To ensure efficiency please email smjohnson@fcps.edu & rbasile@fcps.edu when you plan to arrive for pick up or if you would like us to dispose of your students medication, 703-934-2410.

What a delight to see our students confidently present their projects to City Mayor and Council on June 2, 2026. A true reflection of Portrait of a Graduate skills at its best. So proud of them and you will see their passion and application of their learning in the video recording (link below).
At this point students have presented to the City Planning Commission, City School Board, property owner of Courthouse Plaza, and finally to Mayor and Council members. All presentations were very well received and students received huge accolade. In addition, all students were officially gifted with a Fairfax City Pin.
Hope these presentations will be a source of lifelong learning experience and best take away from their Katherine Johnson school years. I am sure it will be a good memory to keep.
Attached are few pictures from city presentation with Mayor & Council.
