Dear Mighty Red Bird Families,

After this week, we have two more Wednesdays left in the school year. The year is flying by! We are looking forward to making these last days meaningful, engaging, and fun for our students.

A reminder that Field Day is this Friday! Students should wear comfortable clothes and athletic shoes, bring a water bottle, and apply sunscreen before arriving at school. We are excited for a day filled with fun and school spirit!

Even as the school year winds down, attendance remains important. Every school day provides valuable learning opportunities, celebrations, and chances for students to connect with their classmates and teachers. We encourage all students to be present and engaged through the last day of school.

Thank you for helping us finish the year strong!

Warm Regards,

Mrs. Long, Mrs. Agner, Mrs. Compton

LGBTQIA+ Pride Month

LGBTQIA

In the month of June, we recognize the resilience and determination of the many individuals who are fighting to live freely and authentically. We stand with those facing an ongoing struggle against discrimination and injustice. This Pride Month, we reaffirm and uphold the dignity of LGBTQIA+ people. Each individual in our school community should feel valued for who they are. Visit our LGBTQIA+ Student Resources and Supports webpage. Caribbean American Heritage Month

CAHM

FCPS celebrates the rich diversity and honors the many contributions of immigrants of Caribbean heritage to our nation during the month of June. Caribbean individuals are some of the most ethnically diverse in the world. There are more than 8.5 million individuals in the United States born in the Caribbean or of Caribbean ancestry. 🌟Mrs. Long's Blueprint Byte

Snapology

STEAM learning is in full swing for grades 3-5! This week our Mighty Red Birds put their computational thinking skills to the test through hands-on coding sessions provided by Snapology. Integrating the concepts they’ve studied in math all year, students utilized LEGOs to build and code complex, moveable structures. From fully functioning amusement park rides to working catapults, our students demonstrated incredible innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Finish the School Year With Strong Attendance!

As we enter the final weeks of the school year, Fairfax County Public Schools appreciates your continued partnership in supporting your child’s success. Regular attendance plays an important role in helping students stay engaged in learning, maintain connections with their teachers and peers, and finish the school year strong.

Attending school consistently also helps students build valuable habits such as responsibility, perseverance, and daily routines that support success both in and out of the classroom.

If your child needs to miss school, please remember to report the absence. Full-day absences can be reported in ParentVUE. Families may also report absences by calling the school attendance line or emailing the school-designated attendance address.

If your child is experiencing challenges that are affecting attendance, we are here to help. Please contact your child’s school so staff can partner with you to provide support and resources. Learn more about attendance resources.

Arrival and Dismissal - Be A Good Neighbor!

As a reminder, please help us keep arrival and dismissal times safe and smooth for everyone. We ask families to be good neighbors and mindful of:

  • Not blocking intersections or painted boxes during Kiss & Ride —this impacts visibility and also prohibits access for emergency vehicles.

  • Crossing only in crosswalks and watching carefully for cars.

  • Avoiding parking in residential areas, fire lanes, or private parking spaces.

  • Refraining from making illegal U-turns.

  • Remember, no pets are allowed on school property.
