Roadrunner Rundown
June 1, 2026
Principal's Message
Dear Families,
Today we watched MRES students from the Class of 2026 (and maybe some teary-eyed parents) return and walk the halls of our building to thunderous applause as their high school graduation approaches on June 9. There are several reasons this is important! It gives the students a chance to look back over time and to be celebrated for completing this part of life’s journey. It gives staff a chance to see the students they knew several years and many inches ago as staff were part of their growth and development. It gives our current Roadrunners an opportunity to celebrate siblings and neighbors but also to glimpse at their future as engaged students and graduates. We are so proud of the Class of 2026!
We are also very proud of our students who play an instrument and/or sing in the chorus. This Thursday evening at 6:30 pm, we invite you to bask in the band, chorus, and orchestra spring concert.
Have a great week!
Matthew Chapman, Toni Nauflett, and Kelly Willis

Keep Pressing On
Today we turn our calendars to June and the countdown begins. Each student’s presence at the end of the year plays a vital role in ensuring they finish strong and are prepared for their next year of learning. GO ROADRUNNERS!

Are you wondering whatever happened to your child's rain jacket, hoodie, lunchbox, or other items? Please have your child check Lost & Found for any missing items. All unclaimed items will be donated by Friday, June 12. A reminder for next year, please put your child’s last name on all jackets, hoodies, and water bottles to help us get items back to your student! Thank you.

Last Bike Train of the School Year!
We'll depart from Meadow Lane Park on Tuesday, June 2 at 8:45 am and ride to school together.
Did you know? Biking is one of the most powerful brain-building activities for children. When kids pedal, balance, steer, watch for their surroundings, and chat with friends along the way, their brains are simultaneously developing motor skills, spatial awareness, executive function, and social-emotional skills. The cross-lateral movements involved in biking help strengthen connections between the left and right hemispheres of the brain through the corpus callosum, supporting coordination, focus, problem-solving, and learning.
We would also like to thank our friends at Trek Vienna for assisting us at every Bike Train session this year. Their volunteers help us build a safe, supportive biking community for our students.
Let’s close out the year with one more great ride—see you at Meadow Lane Park at 8:45 am!

Roadrunners on Church Street!
Join fellow MRES families for a fun afternoon on Church Street on Wednesday, June 3, 4:00-8:00 pm. Grab dinner at Lombardi’s, pick up some books for summer reading at Bard’s Alley, explore sustainable living at Trace, or cool off with a treat from Rita’s.
At Bard’s Alley, enjoy special story times with Mr. Chapman at 5:30 pm and Ms. Ross at 6:00 pm. Stop by Rita’s to see Ms. Manocha, Ms. Wyatt, Ms. Burns, Ms. Marucchi and Mr. Chapman serving ice cream! No matter where you stop, chances are you'll run into other Roadrunners. We'll be hanging out, catching up, and sharing our summer plans. See you there!
End-of-Year Staff Appreciation (GiftCrowd)
There’s still time to use GiftCrowd to send an end-of-year thank you to our amazing MRES teachers and staff! This is completely optional, and a simple way to show appreciation.GiftCrowd gives staff the freedom to choose something they truly want or need, while also receiving your personal message of thanks. Some staff members are grouped into teams, making it easy to recognize those who support our students behind the scenes every day. All contributions remain private, and each recipient receives your message along with the gift.
Deadline: GiftCrowd closes June 14 at 11:59 pm ET, and gifts will be sent automatically after that. If you’d like to participate, consider this your friendly reminder to do it before the end-of-school rush begins! Questions? Contact Monica at president@marshallroadpta.org.
Staff Spotlight
Hooray for Ms. Robak, one of our amazing music teachers, who snagged the PTA Priority Parking Spot this week! Ms. Robak has been at Marshall Road since 2014. She loves how MRES cares about community and truly taking care of one another.
In her spare time, Ms. Robak loves spending time with family and her cats! Fun fact: Ms. Robak lived in 5 different states between the ages of 18 and 28!
