Congratulations to Our 5th & 6th Grade Choruses!

Earlier this evening, our 5th and 6th Grade Choruses performed their Disney-themed Spring Concert for family and friends, and they did an amazing job! Led by Ms. McCormick and Mr. Crouch, the combined groups sang a delightful array of familiar Disney tunes. The program featured student speakers and soloists as well as a performance by the eight students who represented Lane at this year's All-County Choral Festival concert in April. Congratulations to all of these talented vocalists!

News & Notes

Field Day Is This Friday, June 5!

Field Day 2026 will be held this Friday, June 5, for all grade levels. This schoolwide event allows the students to participate in a variety of games and activities as a class. They will rotate through stations that provide different challenges.

  • Third through 5th grade students will participate in Field Day from 9:20 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.
  • Kindergarten through 2nd grade students will participate from 12:50 to 3:35 p.m.

Please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for this active day outdoors in weather-appropriate clothing that’s easy to move in. Sneakers are mandatory to participate.

Students should bring a water bottle with their name on it and can wear a hat. A change of clothes in a plastic bag labeled with their name is also encouraged (just in case). Sunscreen and bug spray should be applied before arrival as they cannot be brought to school. Be sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a filling breakfast.

Thank you for supporting this important P.E. event!

Please Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance

It’s a busy time of year, and we know many priorities are on your plate. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to check your student’s MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.

Free and Reduced-Price Meals

Families who earn less than 185% of the poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals (FRM). However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2026-27 school year will be available this summer.

If you have a current balance and think you may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2025-26 school year.

School Board Adopts Fiscal Year 2027 Approved Budget

On May 21, the Fairfax County School Board unanimously adopted the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Approved Budget, continuing FCPS’ commitment to sustaining excellence by prioritizing competitive compensation and strategic investments that support student success.

The adopted budget reflects the division’s ongoing efforts to navigate a challenging fiscal environment shaped in part by chronic state underfunding and economic uncertainty. Despite these challenges, the budget maintains key investments and restores several reductions made during the prior fiscal year. Read about the FY 2027 Budget.
